Raleigh Rod Draw Bolt

Hi everyone. I'm looking for a Raleigh rod draw bolt for a 1961 Raleigh Tourist DL1. The rod draw bolt is the threaded bolt that the rods of the rod brakes pass through (picture below). I've managed to strip the bolt for the front brake (which apparently happens pretty easily) and am having a tough time finding a replacement. Any help would be appreciated!

Is there a way to get those brakes to work well? Has anyone ever carved Kool Stop pads to fit, and does it help?

Harris Cyclery had replacement pads/shoes not to long ago. The best performance from these brakes comes with as true a wheel as possible and when truing the wheel I have found you do it off the bike and work it concentric with the indicator ABOVE the rim, capturing where the brake pads engage. Get that dialed and the brakes work reasonably well.

That said, I am very happy my roadster has a Sturmey with the coaster brake integral.

Get the wheels as true as possible, especially the round. I have seen Koolstop inserts that will fit, just can't recall where. I have discovered that to adjust the brakes properly you have to loosen most of the connections and start at the wheel and work back to the levers. I can lock my rear wheel and bring the front one close to it. They will never have the braking power of a modern dual pivot or disc brake equipped bike, but that is part of the charm, kind of like my old drum braked pickup.

I put the salmon Kool Stops on my wife's DL1 and they work a lot better than the Fibrax pads. I don't remember where I got them, Harris maybe.
