Royal Nord President from early '30s. Almost ready for Asia

Hi people!
I want to share with you my projects about this wondeful frame.
You can find pictures and informations on this post on our blog
Some say i'm crazy trying to ride Asia on this old piece of steel. What do you think? :D

Yep, crazy. But in a good way.

Actually, with all the mods you're planning, it should be just fine for long distance touring. Like any modern frame only heavier and with more relaxed geometry. What would be interesting is if you stuck with the 3-speed, coaster brake setup it came with :)

Very cool, but a sachs dual drive does not alloy you to run a thicker chain. You can run a 3x8 with the same width chain (24 speeds). 1.5cm is a lot to spread that frame. My opinion is to not do that.

is anyone familiar with this manufacturer? had a Royal Nord come through my little workshop in about 1978-80 but was never able to learn much about its origins. iirc it looked to be a 1960's era frame or bike.

name sounds like it could be walloonian.

just ran across this ebay Belgium listing for a motor scooter magazine of 1954 with an article on a Royal Nord scooter.

Don't recommend trying to widen the fork - that bike is a bit too vintage, rare and unusual to go doing frame modifications. Personal taste is that I'd be working on putting it back together in 'original' (either catalog or as-found) once I'd cleaned all the individual components.
