Bertoni TSX Pics
Wow. This was quite the build. I posted a thread about this frame and fork a couple weeks ago, so I'll skip right to it, but not until I thank my good friend Richard again for helping me aquire this Bertoni TSX. (he's also the proud owner of one)
While chrome and beautiful paint are fun to look at, building such a frame can present a lot of challenges if you want to do it right. There wasn't a thread on this bike that didn't need to be chased due to chrome or overspray. While it was time consuming, it was worth it in the end. Everything went together as it should.
It's hard to capture the beauty of the paint in pictures; this Sunday will be the official maiden voyage, and the weather man is predicting sunny skies at the beach, so I hope to have some beautiful follow-up photos.
In addition, I'm still waiting for the handlebar tape to arrive; I really wanted to take it out for a shake-down spin, so I finished it with some brown cloth. The new tape will be in the new photos.
The build is pretty straight forward; I went with Campy Athena 11, because based on experience, it works flawlessly, and looks beautiful. Bar and stem are the new Cinelli offerings; they look good, although the stamping and finish aren't as nice as the vintage stuff. Headset is Campy Record. Saddle is my all time favorite, a Selle Italia Turbo. This is their current offering; the 1980 re-issue. I run these on nearly all my bikes because they work for me. Wheels are Mavic Open Pro Ceramics laced to 2006 Campy Record hubs. Tires are Vittoria. Pedals are Campy Pro Fit Plus.
I've included a picture of a Daccordi Griffe for reference; while it's true that Bianchi was contracted by Ben Lawee to build some of the earlier Bertoni's, this particular frame was built by Daccordi.
There isn't a ton of info on these bikes; if you own a Bertoni TSX, (or a Daccordi Griffe) I'd love to see it. Post it here! After spending some time speaking with a family member of the late Ben Lawee, I'd really like to start a registry.
Thanks for looking, and Happy New Year!

Wow!
First time here. I used to post a lot on Road Bike Review. I was not going to look - saving the "reveal" until Sunday. But I couldn't resist.
Where did you find the pic of the Daccordi? I only knew about their "version" from a guy in Britain who posted his - although from the Lawee family I knew the frame was made by Daccordi.
Just bonkers, lad, bonkers.
Just to prove there is more than one, here's mine.

You have built up a superb bicycle - a real head-turner. I know I couldn't have waited for the correct bar tape to take it for a spin either.
