budget alternatives to 80s cycling eyewear
Not sure if this is the right place to post such a question, but:
I really really like the old-school Bolle Edge, Oakley Razor Blade, and similarly styled Carrera sunglasses. I know that Oakley is reselling the Razor Blade underneath the "Heritage" line, but I'm not in the position to spend $180 on such an item. Are there any modern alternatives with similar stylings to the above that aren't prohibitively expensive? For reference, I'd like to spend about as much as I would spend on a Tifosi (I have the Slip, which I like).
Thanks!

Adidas "Evil Eye". On a technical basis they beat similar Oakleys hands down. Not a budget alternative unless you get a good deal on a used pair.

Those don't look much different from some of the non-prescription safety glasses that I have seen at Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. They are usually around $10 a pair.

The safety glasses/goggles suggestion really helped. I'm probably going to bite on these: Uvex S1179 Astrospec 3000 Safety Eyewear, Red/White/Blue Frame, Gray Ultra-Dura Hardcoat Lens - Safety Glasses - Amazon.com

Wait till the carnival comes to your town and buy a pair of knock off oakley blades.

edit: The over-the glasses version has OTG in the model number.

You might want to consider this brand:
On-line Product Catalog:*AOSafety Eyewear
I find the styling to be a bit less industrial than the typical safety glasses. I use one of two different styles with clear lenses for daily pre-dawn rides. the 3M X sport looks comparable to the razor. These should be available locally at places such as Grainger, maye even big hardware retailers.

Really excellent suggestions here. Definitely taking a look at the X Sport. The 3M Nassau, Maxim, as well as the Radians G4 seem to fit the look quite nicely as well.

No one appears to make the old safety glasses like I had for my high school electronics class.

I saw this in the "other" shades thread.. and had to respond, but this thread is much more appropriate for my response.
I was unaware cheap shades and messenger bags made hipsters, here's my cheap berkley fishing glasses I use for riding and fishing and lots of other crud where polarization gives you an edge. The other set are slightly less super cheap cycling glasses, they are "smoke" tinted and are wonderful for morning rides.
Only my sweet 5 dollar tacky camo coloured yellow reflective no name ones!
Seen here perched atop my equally sweet messenger bag
Bet you didn't know you had a lurking hipster in here, did you.
Just wait till i post in the "what the hell do you look like" thread....just wait.

Here in austin its like a uniform. Neon imitation raybans everywhere. Theyre actually quite sensible. Dark, cheap, and stay on your head.
Maybe we should start a third sunglasses thread where you have to show them resting on your ride bag!

For what it's worth, I ordered a pair of X-Visions in a single prescription for shooting and the lenses were so distorted I can't even use them.
Off the shelf, non X they're are probably fine, not real impressed with their CS though.

I either use 3M Tekk safety glasses - available in 3 packs at home depot (2 clear (for trails in the woods), 1 smoked (for the road)) or something from my local discount clothing store (Marshalls, TJMaxx, etc.) These all fit my narrow face well and, at under $10, no big deal if I lose them.
