IDing some track/Road frames? (pictures inside!)
 

hello everyone, ive obtain 4 frames lately, 2 track frames, a Benotto road, and a Rosin frame. I would like to ask you guys how genuine these could be, specially the benotto and the Rosin. and i would also like to ask if anyone recognize the two track frames.

Hello Kumis, welcome to C&V. The Rossin looks legit, but the Benotto could be anything. It certainly didn't leave the factory decalled like that. Looks like a decent frame though. Nothing I recognise on the track frames. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I think you'll find those cutouts are fairly common. The more telling details are the seat cluster, the extra cable guide on the bottom of the top tube (nice detail, I don't think I've seen that before) and the four-digit serial number, which suggests a small brand. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable than me will chime in.

Welcome to C&V - What Non-Fixie said! The Rossin looks genuine, the Benotto could be, but the decals are all wrong - might have been refinshed at some time? The bule track frame looks to be a higher quality of build than the red one, but no idea what either is. Wish I could find a low-price track frame in that condition in 22" to refurbish though, they all seem to be too expensive for me at present.

thats actually what i intend to do, sell them. that is, after a nice dusting off. again, thanks for all the information on the bikes, just reassures what i have.

At the begining just because it says valle I thought was a samuel del valle or maybe something made by his dad back in the 50s but the finishing is all wrong. too rough to be a Del Valle.

The rosin is the only original there, the other ones are who knows what, the benotto might be a benotto the problem is that when the thing went to mexico a lot of super low end was produced, and who knows what was actually produced in mexico and what was actually licensed and made in colombia so who knows. The only one IMO that worth something is the rosin but w/o the fork and decals you won't get a lot either ok?

As for the blue track bike, that thing is just old, 1960s? really rough design, I would dare to say that is or french or made by some of your locals, no fork either.

You might want to ask Ciclo Conris in Palmira about those track frames.

the Valle decal just means that it competed for our department, Valle del Cauca. Im sure i can find the Rossin fork, just might have to search a bit deeper. Ultraman, how much is "not alot"? :p and im planning to buy those two track frames, theres not a whole bunch of them down here, and im sure i can get something out of them.

obrentharris, thats REALLY strange, these frames are at Ciclo Conris as we speak. how in the world do you know that bike shop living in San Francisco? like i mentioned before, the owner of the frames told me the Rossi frame was used in La Vuelta a Colombia, back in the day. Ill find out more info on that.

Now that would be interesting. I've you could find some evidence of that, and find a picture of the bike in that race, that would really increase the value for a collector.

The 'Benotto' too, could be worth some research. It looks like a nice frame, and if you could match it to an interesting brand, it could well increase the value. Good luck!

Hes actually a well known cyclist and has a history to back it up. cant find a photo of him riding it, ill keep searching though.

Ah! He rode with Parra and Herrera in the TdF! I remember those days. "Lucho" caused quite a stir when he won Alpe d'Huez as an amateur.

the last one, track frame looks to be similar to those 70's Gitane (or any French variables) guessing from the seatstay caps.

If you find the fork you can sell the rosin as a collector item and get maybe 400 bucks for it? As or the other 2 honestly no clue, aren't my type of bikes at all, too rough finish for me. A lot of french track frames showed up at the mid 60s mid 70s in south america so those well could be some of them.

found the fork. i also found a guy, that knows a guys, one of those things. He can actually make the original decals that were on the bike, and i could also get Rogelio to sign the bike. i think thats a good collectors item, am i right? by the way, the frame is size 53 CM

If you're going to bother Rogelio anyway, get a picture of him and the bike as well, now and then, if possible. Much more convincing than just a scribble on the top tube that basically anyone could have put there.

That's hard to say from here. It depends very much on your local market conditions. And on Rogelio's fame, you getting interesting proof of it having been his bike, him having ridden it in races, etc.
