Actually, there has been two or three. Obsession with Campagnolo. Obsession with keeping parts all original. Oh, and, obsessive leather brake hoods. And now, obsession with obsession. :>

I don't think I'm obsessed. I like to think of it as passion and enthusiasm.

fietsbob 02-11-14 11:51 AM

Talk is cheap . OCD expressing them over this list , common ..

gaucho777 02-11-14 11:54 AM

^You forgot straddle cables. In any case, I'm with you rootboy. I'm passionate and enthusiastic about original condition bikes, preferably Campagnolo-equipped ones with properly adjusted brakes.

ob·sess
(əbˈses)
verb
3rd person present: obsesses
1. preoccupy or fill the mind of (someone) continually, intrusively, and to a troubling extent.

I'm sticking with passion and enthusiasm, though my wife would argue its an obsession. ;)

Thanks for posting that link, Grady! I wasn't aware of Van Hulsteijn (shame on me), but I really like what he's doing.

The best thing about this thread. Some of those bikes are gorgeous, making me think seriously for the first time about hanging modern stuff on one of my classic frames.

Pay no attention to that tic in my eye….

jimmuller 02-11-14 05:08 PM

I thought I was obsessive about apathy, but then I thought I was just apathetic about obsessions. When I realized I was apathetic about apathy I began to get obsessive over the idea.

What should I do now? Become a hipster?

rootboy 02-11-14 05:25 PM

I can't see you in peg leg jeans, Jim….

So what's wrong with re-arranging the mail in the mailbox from larger to smaller, R to L, colors grouped together?
Or not racing your Hot Wheels cars, just sorting them by type, color, and make.
You think no one else has all the Thomas the Tank Engine in Ertle, cards included, in alphabetical order?
I don't see the point......

The OP can relate, if you think we're anything OCD, try attending a USMC wall locker inspection. Or look into a plebe's locker during summer at USNA.
I think some systems rely on some OCD to work, to get everyone on the same page, especially the military.

Truer words never spoken. I can't remember if I had OCD tendencies before joining the USN, but I sure as heck identify now!

Wait until you get out....the lack of it will drive you crazy, same as the lack of teamwork.

Instead of the person on your left and right backing you up,....
...the person on your left doesn't want to be bothered, and the person on your right called in sick, again.

When have you followed me around, Top? I thought I was safe when I arranged the mail after getting it out of the box, its when I try to straighten out other peoples mail :notamused: in their hands that I get in trouble.:innocent: I still have dreams about locker and sea bag inspections and having the Gunny look for a reason to .... never mind. And, its CDO, at least got it in the correct order, Top! I think my OBSESSION with keeping my tools in the roll around and mid/top units all in order and correctly grouped after I clean them is what drives our son nuts. We need the picture of Sloar's work area again.

I couldn't figure out why people weren't always 15 minutes early or how people were still sleepy at 0700.

It took a month of going ape**** then I joined the Reserves and went to Drill Sergeant School. While being stationed at Ft. Living Room, I learned what it was like to be a civillian.

Drillium Dude 02-12-14 10:13 AM

In two months I'm going to start setting my watch 15 minutes behind instead of forward. Baby steps...

rootboy 02-12-14 10:36 AM

And a nice watch it will be, I hear tell. :thumb:
