New to me Pinarello

Just received a Pinarello I bought last week. Cool deal, I bought it from the original owner, it is a 1983 I believe. He provided some of the original paperwork.

It seems to be in real nice shape. Decals are flaking off but he sent a new set of decals. Chrome is very, very good. No rust I can see right off, inside of the tubes are nice and clean.

Found this on one of my "secret spots" , not a bike related forum, just general for sale ads. This was titled "old racing bike for sale"

Hope to have this on the road in a week or two, BTW this is referred to as ARCO on the paperwork, does anyone know what that means?

Very nice, congratulations. Pinarello is notorious for the decals flaking off.

Thsi one should get Shimano AX cranks with Dynadrive pedals, to make it an Olympic medal replica, same or almost the same size too. This is the same size or very similar. Why Pinarello does not have one in their Museum is curious to me.

Beautiful. Love the chrome. Is it a Montello? How are you going to build it up?

I don't believe it is a Montello. It appears to have SL tubing, I think the Montello is SLX and the rear brake cable on this one runs external over the top tube not internal like every Montello I have seen.

Most likely it will get a Dura Ace and Ultegra group mix, 2 x 9 (or 10) with Shimano STI's. I have a new in the box set of Dura Ace brakes waiting to go on something.

I really like the look of these bikes some very nice details lugs paint chrome all of which look great for a early 1980's racer that actually looks to have been used raced. These bikes had a great combination of style and racing performance quality. As said above the decals on early 80's racers wear notourious for flacking peeling off but not a big deal they can be replaced or a better paint shop can stencil replicate the decals by hand touch up the paint and redue the clear coat a little pricey but worth it on a bike this nice.

You may want to check if those are odd standard Dura Ace specific wheels as the may not like other than the same Dura Ace group.
