Calling the usual suspects, the annual Spring Cape Cod Rail Trail Ride
I'm so done with winter, justing thinking of this makes it easier to cope. We've had a blast in the past, how about early to mid April? Pastor Bob, what works for you .. I know Easter (April 20th.) is a busy time, should we wait until after that?
It's a long way off but let's all talk. Let's try to get some newbies too.

Just what makes you think winter is done with you?
We'll be in if the timing is right. If we don't have a gig. If my new job doesn't send me to England for a week. If the snows on The Cape have mostly disappeared by then. If it doesn't snow again in mid-April.

I might not be able to take anytime off this Winter into mid Spring, and might be going bonkers come Easter, so if we could shoot for the Saturday/Sunday after Easter, April 26/27, that would be best for me. May gets too busy for me to be able to commit to anything else.
My big wild card, however, is my daughter's wedding in July. There is no telling what Mrs. PB and Daughter might throw my way unexpectantly with short notice.

Well, I can finally relate to you guys up north. Just finished with 14 inches of the stuff. SO glad I invested in that snow thrower. And, the power went out last night about midnight. SO glad we invested in that generator! Man, what a winter, eh?
Anyway, sounds good Scott. I only have one thing that could prevent me from joining in, but I doubt the stripers will be running heavily that early, and there's always May.

Death fork? Naaaah!!
I think you mean something different when you use the word 'winter' than I do......
In any case I'll be there, but no promises the Mirella will be done by then. As soon as a date gels I'll put in for the time off.

Yeah. "Winter" is relative, eh? Got a note from a pal up in Vermont, and he got three feet. But for the Cape, this one was a doozy.
Though I do realize it could be much, much worse.

I'm doing my best not to invoke any winter bashing (yet), despite the 20ft wide X 30ft deep X 6-8ft tall snow pile at the end of the driveway.
Poor heating oil delivery man. I'm going to put a ladder there so he can reach the top to snowshoe over to the fill spot.

ok, sounds like the end of of April or beginning of May would be the best ... Not that I won't do one in the meantime if I get a call from Root saying the trail is free or ice and snow and a warm weekend is predicted ..
More snow here on Cape Ann today .. plus I'm on the backside of a 24 hour stomach bug. Life is good in that regards anyway.

I am not one of the "usual" suspects, but maybe you can consider me one of the "unusual" suspects. Bob, I hope you get some heating oil. Where do you people start from, and how long is the ride?

The Cape Cod Rail Trail starts from Dennis and heads north 22 miles to Welfleet. We ride up and back, with a side trip of a couple of miles to check out the Atlantic. It's a good time, good folks, and a great way to put a Maine winter behind you.
And then it's only a matter of time before you meet Scott in a dodgy parking lot.

Come to think of it, we sort of did a few years back as well.
Who are those two posers in red?

So Pastor Bob, sounds like you and I are on the same path ... the red Paramount idea is a fine one! Maybe we can shake Neil Lerner out of Brookline for this ride too!

Just take a look at me in the picture below. Let's say there's not that much of me at this particular moment and I hope even less by the end of April!
I certainly was either a "sail" or a "parachute" or someone's "wind screen" last fall. Hopefully not so much come April.
That's near the end of the little known nor followed spur line from Cape Cod to Newburyport, MA. Of course you need a long snorkel and a bike built from stainless steel to survive this ride. Notice the breathing apparatus attached to my back? Of course the ride can be a bit dodgy at times, and make certain you bring your Great White Shark repellent.

My goal by July is to look like Rootboy and not cast a shadow at the beach! Here's my dietary secrets .... No breads or wheat, potatoes, no gluten, no dairy .. instead lean beef, chicken, fish with nuts, veggies, fruit, etc. And always have a young woman in attendance.
