Most of the parts just came in today. I'm extremely busy, so it's going to take awhile to start building it up..but I'm pretty happy to have my new Pass Hunter. I can't wait to build this girl up !

61 cm. I've usually ridden a 62cm-63cm, but this was as big as the Velo Orange bikes go now. Properly adjusted, I've been just fine on a 60cm, so this won't be any different.

I'm really looking forward to being able to build it up and ride it.

Only things I need to buy now are handlebar tap, maybe grips (been eyeing the leather Brooks ones), and brake and shift cables to get it in riding condition. I have brake levers on the way in the mail.

After that comes a new saddle (I'll be switching my Brooks Imperial over to it initially) and I'm thinking about the Brooks Cambium. I also need to get a front bag and a saddle bag. It will be set up more towards a randonneuring style. I'm thinking of replacing the stem cover with one of those Stem Captain clocks. I'll also be needing a couple of steel bottle cages.

I have no idea for a cycling computer yet. I'm a numbers guy and love seeing how far I've ridden, time elapsed, average and current speeds, etc. I hate having such a busy cockpit, though, and the ones that make the most sense (wired, lasts longer and generally pretty accurate) have the wire and sensor that isn't very aesthetically appealing. I've used a Garmin Edge in the past, but that takes up a lot of room and the battery life isn't that great on longer trips/rides where power sources aren't always available.

Soooo many choices.

Okay, I have to know: what in the heck is that thing half-on/half off the orange cardboard holding the fenders?!

Pretty frame you have there - should build up even prettier

If the top tube lengths are close you should be fine.

My choice ended up being an iPhone with a $3 GPS app; so much simpler and doesn't affect the bike at all. I guess it was easy for me, since my work pays my phone bill.

Anyway, felicitations! Nothing like building a virgin bike from scratch.

It's the crazy bar. The handlebars... I am thinking about getting a pair also.

I'm looking forward to seeing this build progress.

Those handlebars are shocking - I'd already seen the pictures on VO's site, but didn't release how monstrously wide they are. Are they actually wider across than the diameter of the fenders or is it just the perspective making them look that big?

Thanks. I'm a big fan of the frame so far, at least in appearance. You know who makes the frame, but at the same time it's not out there as prominent as some bikes. There is a good ratio of name to paint. The head badge is pretty nice as well.

As mentioned, those are the Crazy Bars that VO just started offering not too long ago ( https://store.velo-orange.com/index.p...crazy-bar.html ). They do seem a bit "crazy" but I think they are going to provide a really nice fit. I don't often ride in the drops anyways. The little bend on the horns goes up some, and my initial opinion without them on the bike is they feel like when you rest your hands on the hoods.

They are pretty wide, maybe about two feet or so at the widest flare of it, but seem pretty comfortable already without any padding, grips, or tape. I think it will give the feeling you might have on the handlebars of a beach cruiser style bike on the edges. They also don't seem as large to me as they look as I fiddle around with where I'm putting the shifters and brakes.

Once I get the bike built and some ride time in, I'll give a report on them.

Indeed ! I could just take it into the shop and have it done for me, but I don't want anyone else to get first dibs on riding her before I do. If things work out like I'm hoping, this is going to be in my stable for a long time, hopefully forever.

I just saw a pair of these in person last Saturday.

The person does a ton of distance riding and they are going on her Rivendell.

@op Looks like a fun build. Keep the pics coming.

nothing wrong with the VO kool aid. I am glad to see their growth. I can't remember when I placed my first order but it was probably close to 7 years ago now.

Cool pic. Back when I was restoring Lambretta scooters I always wanted to lay out all the completely disassembled parts on the floor and have a Mod friend pose, scratching his head, with the caption: "Jimmy's Lambretta kit had arrived, but he was unnerved to find that the assembly instructions were in Italian."

No doubt it will be a nice rider and I hope it brings you joy but TIG and 1 1/8" threadless steerer are buzzkill for me.
