By golly, it's spring (or almost)

I went for a ride this morning, and the temps are even better this afternoon. I've just got to take another ride. Next week looks like snow again, but only a bit - I'll take advantage while I can.

3 days in February so far in NJ with sun and above 40 degrees. Nice! Lots of Pot holes, so I'm happy to have my MTB dropbar conversion.

Not here. We're bracing for a third visit from the "Polar Vortex" by the end of the week. :notamused:

You have what we did a few days back. More winter coming your way!

It's such a beautiful day out and I'm inside studying for my thermodynamics exam tomorrow (apparently blogging as well)! Blah!!! I don't care I'm going for a bike ride soon, a quick 25 miles or so oughta be good for the brain and body

OUCH!!! I feel for you.

Today was the first time this winter we've had measurable snow in my town. My kid and I took advantage of it to make an evil two-headed snow alien. We're going to pitch the concept to the writers of Dr. Who for next season's Christmas Episode.

Very much looking forward to Peter Capaldi doing battle with a monster of my own creation.

Did you see the Dr. Who with the evil snowmen?

You mean it's been done already? Dang, I really need to catch up.

Oh well, at least I'm thinking along the right lines, I guess :P

Maybe you should look for some Calvin & Hobbes consolidations at B&N or other local book store killer. All knowledge is there.

98 miles yesterday ("February Century"), 40 miles on my track bike this morning, which accounts for half of my non-commuting miles of the year! So yeah, it's getting better. I checked my two beehives today, and they are still alive (and not happy to see me. Yow!). If they can survive another three or for weeks, I will have a great sigh of relief.

Yay! Worked on my Basso yesterday and took it, and me, out for a 10 mile shakedown after a long, tough winter. Felt good to be out riding again, although this week it looks like most of us are in for another visit from our friend Vortex from the Arctic. Yeeesh!

spacemanz 02-23-14 05:24 PM

Hang in there, folks, it's gotta get better again, eventually. Right? ;) I'm from PA, & been through a lot of winters there, & don't miss the snow & cold a bit.

I really shoulda been out for some rides this weekend, but with the roads so badly coated with salt, I just can't bring myself to getting out a bike and riding. Of course, there's other reasons too, but this one seems convenient at least.

Yep, the roads look like a war zone around here too. I'm really digging my Raleigh Grand Prix with 1.25in tires and slack angles. Turned into a great early spring bike.

I rode 3 days in a row. I am calling it cyclists summer! I figure if we Native Americans can call a warm spell a summer... cyclist should be able to do the same.

3speedslow 02-23-14 06:23 PM

Yes, I feel the spring coming ! Been riding CX and on the road and have seen some signs both places. I got stung by a bee 2 days ago and the robins are going mad around here. On the coffee ride yesterday there were the little purple flowers blooming all over the park.

AND THE TEMP IS HITTING THE 60'S !

R3tired 02-23-14 06:39 PM

We have a relative that gets uppity about the phrase "polar vortex." So we refer to it as "the arctic swirly."
