It reminds me of the Chinese-made Sears Free-Spirit bike that our Goodwill store is asking $50 for, but in much rougher condition.

The lugged frame and head badge suggests a second look, but the steel rims, cotter cranks, handlebars and hubs, along with Falcon deraileurry told me that it had little value even if in good condition.

On a brighter note, a huge local shop discarded their entire inventory of older headset and bottom bracket parts, about 20 pounds worth.
I recovered French-threaded bottom brackets, a couple of 7400 bottom brackets, a complete Specialized alloy headset, and the other 18 pounds of parts yet to be sorted.
Just seems like an attempt at simplifying life in a modern-era bike shop. In the past I was called before they dumped stuff, and they got cash, but this time I had to dig and it was all free. I noticed a truck loaded with scrap metal after hours, and fortunately the good little bits got dumped into the short-size dumpster, on top of some discarded tarps and banners, so was relatively easy pickins.

. I found this one on the corner...cleaned off the grime, put some grease on it, and it made somebody happy. I think they are a kmart type bike. If it's not free I'd pass.

It was a crappy bike when it was new. Not worth the effort even if buying it and parts were free.

I see you're in Missouri also. For whatever reason, there seems to be a fair number of Magna bikes popping up at auctions, garage sales, thrift shops, etc. A few years ago, one of my neighbors wheeled one down and asked me to fix a flat and I wound up (don't we always?) tuning the bike, truing the wheels, etc… and what a piece of crap that thing was! Anyway, keep your eyes open. There are far better fish in the sea.

Best wishes in the hunt!

Flip it. Put it on CL citing it is the only one left in existence. Start high or they might not believe you.

Wal Mart, K-Mart and Target sold them around here, I saw 3 nearly new ones out for trash pickup last summer and kept right on going. Yes, they are THAT bad.
