35F, windy, overcast with plenty of snow runoff, salt, sand and potholes ... but,

today is the first day of daylight-savings. I deem it light enough, therefore safe enough to ride home from work.

Let the 2014 season begin!

btw, I just got back from doing 90 minutes on the beater. I'm old, fat and slow. It was glorious.

While the added hour of daylight in the evening will be nice this early, the delay of the sunrise will really be felt for a month or two.

In Southern California, today is the first day of Summer. 79°F locally. wispy high clouds.

No daylight saving time here yet, but today it was sunny and almost 20 degrees centigrade (don't know how much that is in lbs or psi).

I spent the day outside, rebuilding the rear wheel of my Atala for the C&V Clunker 100 challenge. It was a great day.

F68 degrees. I spent my warm day replacing the sway bar bushings on my car.

The weather was really great today out, and it better had be; I was talked into running a 10k, and since I consider jogging a form of exercise that's entirely inferior due to the lack of nice shiny bikes involved I didn't really went training in the past months. Barely managed to run it under an hour, but I had a great time with the group that talked me into this nonsense. Luckily it's the first bike big bike event next week, the Joop Zoetemelk Classic, I'm really looking forward to that one. I had a great time riding last year with @Zieleman and @paulkal, with @non-fixie joining us afterwards for a beer.

Nice weather here yesterday, today and several more days this coming week. Don't have to go to work. Roads were washed of salt by rain last week. Temps in the 60's to 70's F. Ride, baby, ride. Yeah, I'm a bit slow, too. My GPS tells me so.

Another cold snap here in South Florida, woke up to high 50's low 60's. Had to wear socks with shoes in the shop, just to be able to get my bike ready for the morning ride...I hate cold weather.

60 and windy, a typical winter day.
made pecan cobbler and rode while it baked and cooled a bit.
the thought of it made me shorten my ride.
totally worth it, still warm when I arrived.
NAHBS is coming up.

I was tempted ti go out. Watched the Bulls get revenge on the Heat. Then the sun was gone, windy, and seemed downright cold. Warm stuff on the way, someday.

And my son made the high school baseball team!!!! First game in two weeks. Yikes!

And here, the daytime riding season is rapidly coming to a close. Two evening rides this past week. My riding buddy, Alan, introduced me to the joys of night riding a couple years ago. The humidity is rising faster than the temperature, making daytime rides significantly less comfortable than they were even a week ago.

Edit: Mid- to upper-80s daytime temps. Low- to mid-70s at night.

Today was probably my third or fourth time riding home from work since the new year; 50ish and partly cloudy, from sea level to 1000ft in 4 miles, sweating like a pig through the last half of that. I've got to lose about 10lbs of gut, but quick.

Anyone know of a good home liposuction kit?

Today we hit 0 degress (32F) and got some great powder skiing in the White Pass (famous for chilkoot trail where so many gold hungry men died on their way to the Klondike). Oh, and with the time change it is light out till 8 pm now. We have about 12 hours of light now... and climbing...

35 degrees in Adelaide, Australia today, perfect autumn day; light cloud cover, zero wind.
We use C not F to measure our temps.

Aks around at your local rowing club how the lightweight crews do it. losing 10 lbs in a matter of days is entirely within the realm of possibility, but it's neither fun nor pretty.

You ride on the road, during rush hour, at night?

Your pair must be quite large. And brass.

Nice to know someone else rides one way! I do to and was able to get three consecutive days in two weeks ago. I too need to loose 10lbs of excess waist! It did feel good. One day was in the rain. The fenders finally paid off! Should get maybe 4 days in this week.

This weekend we took the newley assembled tandem out for a ride. Still needs some tuning. What good is a thread without pics?!

Italuminium, you're doing the Zoetemelk classic again this Saturday? I already planned to cycle to Antwerp, I want to get some good pralines. So I wont do the Zoetemelk classic.
Yesterday it was 68 Fahrenheit (20 Celsius) here, cycled almost 200 km.

I also took a bike ride in my part of Illinois. There is still too much salty run-off, so I just took a Trek 400 out for a shake-down ride. I was able to keep the bike dry, but a longer ride would have coated the bike. The bike is for my young adult son.

I purchased the bike in December after my son sold his car and told me that he will use a bike and public transportation as his primary way of getting around Chicago. I have a feeling he will be using my car on date night, but that's a good plan as far as I'm concerned.

I found this Trek 400 in Milwaukee. It's very clean with only a few nicks in the paint. The wheels were shot, so I added a new pair from Velo Mine. I installed new cables, platform pedals and new Vittoria Rando Pro tires. It will get fenders and a rack soon. It has a smooth ride and is a good bike for the intended use.

Mhm. I'm looking to ride into work for the first time in '14. 34F when I leave the house, 49F (and sunny) when I return! Knowing you have a ride home to look forward to helps the work-day along that much more.
