Pinarello - Model ID Help
 

Hi everyone,

First time poster here. I was sent a couple pictures of an old Pinarello frame by a friend. She said it was her mother's bike, so I'm guessing it might be an 80s model?

I have never seen something with a top tube quite like this (I'm hoping it's not damage). I was wondering if you could help me identify it!

I think you are hoping against hope, but what do I know?

I don't think a tube would bend like that by accident without crimping. A tube bender normally supports the sides to help the tube retain it's shape. Also, if it is a damaged tube, the geometry would be screwed up by effecttively shortening the top tube. It doesn't look like that happened.

It looks funky but the frame doesn't seem small enough to have a bent/swooping tube to gain stand over height. I am thinking it is bent after being built

What country is this in? More/better pics will help determine the age. Are there actually Pinarello markings in the frame?

I know nothing of Pinarellos but it looks as if it might be legit. If the top tube were not curved the headtube would become more perpendicular and the wheel would hit the frame. The fork does not seem bent. A Duckduckgo search (pinarello curved top tube) found several examples including this one: Vintage Pinarello Treviso Italia Bike Frame Fork Ferrari Seat Curved Frame | eBay and an ad without pictures for a Prologo.

The bike in the link is a time trial or 'funny' bike and designed for aero dynamics. The only reason I can see for this is stand over height.

Thanks for all of the replies. I'll try my best to answer all the questions.

This bike was purchased in Cali, Colombia. It's in the USA now. :) My friend's mother is ~5'1" so it's a pretty small frame. I don't know if there are any markings other than the ones we can see in the picture. She said that there are markings that mention Treviso, but since Pinarello is based there I'm not sure if that's just a decal or if it's the actual model type.

She asked her mother if the top tube came that way and she said yes. She'll ask more about it when she gets the chance. I'll ask my friend to take some more pictures, too.

I'm glad that it's not a busted frame. Funky, for sure.
