Help me identify my Bianchi?

Hi Guys,
Picked up a Bianchi recently, it was pretty much free and the condition is not great at all, but in a city where bikes are constantly stolen, its what I needed.
However, I have been trying to identify the model or the year etc. but havent had any luck.
I took these pictures today.

I changed the cantilever brake on the front, and stripped off some stuff. The interesting thing is the crazy amount of braze ons: dynamo holder, pump holder, lock etc..
I hate the brakes, the simplex derailleurs, the wheels, and the cranks, but it does have character.
Thanks in advance!
David

Your right about it not looking like something that would be stolen, but the saddle is, so protect that.
I didn't know Bianchi went so low on the scale as this. It is a "boom bike" of the '70's.
Clean it, grease it, and ride it!

If that's the Brooks that came with it, and the bike was low cost to you, you got a deal !

As for the bike, early-mid 70's( bike boom) would be my guess. Check out the Bianchi serial number thread on here and see if another bike matches yours. I would turn that into a spiffy SS as the components aren't that special. Love that colour green.

Can you show us some of those "crazy bazenons" ? Don't drew anything off, please !

The bike that I see did not have cantilever brakes. I see center-pull brakes. That is a nice old bike with a pretty nice seat.

I have just found another bike like it after a few google images searches, it seems to be a late 60s early 70s Bianchi Campione del Mondo ( a much nicer specimen pictured below), hence the sticker.
In total I paid 30 euros for it (including brooks saddle), but it really isn't in a good state. May try and put some shimano 600 on it or indeed make it SS. The wheels are extremely heavy, so may swap them. The lock at the back slides into the spokes, but its not really the most secure lock. Trying to think what I could use the dynamo hanger for other than a dynamo.. any suggestions?http://canadianpickers.weebly.com/up...168134?4832697

Sorry, I meant center-pull!

David,

I would see if a light of some sort could be attached to that dynamo bracket. Does the bike fit you ?

A dynamo bracket is a really nice thing to have, if you ride at night. I'd put a dynamo on it!

I would not buy new parts for this bike; but try to pick up better used parts. You should be able to pick up a pair of wheels with aluminum rims, and a Suntour derailleur or two, pretty cheap; and this will make that bike much more fun to ride.

The bike does fit me, although the saddle is in quite tight, and haven't bothered to put it down yet. I have a period dynamo which I could put on, but the cabling runs through the frame which is a real pain to install, so may have to wait with that for someone who can do it properly. Will try and find some 1970s lights then.

Indeed, I was not going to buy new: haven't done for months! Probabaly will find some good metal stuff from the period rather than the plastic simplex which I really dislike and do not understand how to adjust.
I may try and find some chrome mudguards, which i reckon would suit it pretty well, along with the lights.

I would tune and clean it and just ride it. I do agree it is very likely from the mid to later '70s probably something like a Special or Sport.
