1986 Specialized Expedition

Hi all -

Hoping for some advice re a vintage Expedition handed down to me from my mother who was its only owner.

The bike is in excellent condition. I even have the original sales receipt, some maintenance records, and the original owners manual.

The bike is too big for me. I plan to post it for sale. I have no idea how much it might be worth.

Any ideas?

Bikes: A bunch of old bikes and a few new ones

It's an awful bike but someone on this site will be happy to take it off your hands . . .

Seriously those were nice bikes but a lot depends on condition and size and location (it's easier to sell bikes in some areas than others). Post a few pics (esp. of the drive side) and you'll get an idea of valuation. Also do you want to do this locally via CL or ebay? You may (or may not) get more from ebay. It is more of a hassle though. Personally I'd be willing to take a little less to sell it locally. There is a good market for vintage touring bikes like the Expedition.

I would think that there would be a lot of interest from the members here, Me included, depending on size. Pics would be helpful.

That Expedition is one of THE most desirable touring bikes of all time.

If it is really in excellent condition- I don't think you're looking at less than $650. I just say that, because that's what I got my 720 for- and IMO the're on par with each other.

Unless, of course, it's a 21" frame- then you'd sell it to me for $56 and assorted change. I could throw in some dental floss if that'll seal the deal.

And there's an internet rule you must abide by.

"Pix or it didn't happen."

Get some pix and post them on the "Classic & Vintage: What's It Worth" appraisal forum. As mentioned above, your location matters.

It's a good idea to read the rules before you post in a new forum.
