Love the "after" look. The blue rims and speckled bar tape were taking attention from the frame, the real star of the show. The new bar tape is pure patina.

Thank goodness you changed it, whew. I still think black bar tape would look better however.

When it was new:

It was upgraded in the late 70's. Then after a temporary restoration:

As it was a few years ago, set up for commuting:

As it was last year (sorry it isn't a DS pic):

^My first "real" bike was a Vitus, but it was destroyed when I got hit by an oblivious driver in a van. The Look, bought new when I was 13 or 14, was my 2nd bike. I started early I guess.

That is the way it always looked, since I bought in 1974.

The seller who I bought the Cinelli SC from said that the parts on the Cinelli will pay for the whole bike and he was right plus some!

78 Schwinn World. It's currently hanging as a frameset, awaiting its next iteration.

This is my 1987 Schwinn High Sierra- I got it in 1991- This was my first bike I bought as an adult. When I started riding again, around 5 years ago- this is how the bike looked- it actually looked much better than this a few years before- my sister in law borrowed it for a year or so, left it outside. Even over winter.

At some point I realized how cool of a bike this is- fillet brazed at the headtube, braze ons all over, mid fork braze ons, behind the seat pump peg... I was going to try to go for the drop bar mountain bike tourer. I've got it most of the way there-

This is the first bike I posted pics of here, but the bike that got me on the forum is long gone. It was too small for me.
Upgrades? Let's see. Got some Velofex tires for it. And the original saddle and brake levers are off the bike in this pic.
Otherwise stock.

Oops. Except the wheel set. Which is a sad, bonehead story.

I've pretty much upgraded everything on my '73 Raleigh Record - keeping only the Nervar crankset and Altenberger brake levers.
