Name That Hub
 

No branding, low flange, 36 hole, 7/32" bearings (?), was laced to a 700c Mavic Module E. Was going to try to lace it but the cups/cones aren't in great shape. My shot in the dark: Ofmega. Anyway just curious...

Don't recall my Ofmega having that shape and they did have the name etched in the middle. The grease guard does not match my recollection as well.

Yeah, this would've been a perfect candidate for trying to build my first wheel.

I'm curious about the make, but was also thinking that if I can id them (and they're decent) I might try to find cones and lace 'em anyway for practice. (The cups aren't terrible, but the cones are pretty bad.) But if they're obscure or low quality I'll just chuck 'em. They do feel awful light to me, and seem like they could be Campy clones.

I know the thinking. I have a set of Joytech hubs that are butter smooth but just can't seem to make myself lace them up. Really don't know what I would use them for unless foul weather riding. I'll think of something...

I've seen the same hubshell on a relatively low-end Colnago. I suspect Ofmega as well, since they made the bike's Colnago signature crankset and were a prolific Italian hub maker.

I also remember Taiwan clones of this hubshell (from the 1990's), some even with cartridge bearings. Quando brand perhaps.

But I think that both Wheelsmith and Mavic hubs had this shape before the Italian clones appeared in the 1980's.

I would also guess it is ofmega or Gipiemme as it appears to be a campy clone sort of hub (look at the dust caps).

OK, I'm going to stick with mid-range Italian or French. Not sure what I'll do with it, but it doesn't seem worth the hassle of refurbishing and lacing up. Thanks.

Looks just like an Ofmega "master" hub, but IIRC there may have been a couple variants of that "master" line and perhaps one had the steel dustcaps.

Not a great hub IMO...there were better offerings (both branded as Ofmega and Avocet).
