can help me verify this frame ?

bought old frame from local chop shop but i just can't tell what model is this frame .... frame with one small decal said " Cromoly Product by Miyata"
i try googling around but found nothing. Series number is S - 043450 (head set). Anyone can help me to verify ? btw this my first attempt on rebuilding old bicycle, so pls forgive my ignorance, thanks |
one of the Miyata "runners", like Ridge Runner or Terra Runner?
Not sure when they stopped using lugs and went with all tig welding, but certainly these had lugs through the mid '80s. Could also be a Univega (since those were made by Miyata) but probably those would not have broadcast their Miyata tubing . |

are you saying that 700C wheels fit? did you try a 700c wheel in the rear and check that brakes would actually touch the rim?
Is the HS a 1" or 1-1/8"? Actually I'm not sure about this serial number fitting with Miyata's (or Univega's) format...it's possible you might have a Koga Miyata, especially if you're in EU. |
It does look somewhat like a late eighties or early nineties Koga-Miyata hybrid. Maybe a Traveler or a City Liner. But they had the serial numbers on the BB shell, AFIK.

i just try that frame with 700c x 35 rubber 50mm sidewall (from my other bike) ..... front and back clearance seem like ok, but brake (canti) seem like abit far (1.5-2cm) .......

I'd stick with 26" wheels. Not only will you'll be able to use the canti studs, but you'll be less high up when riding as well. I've done a similar conversion, and found the resulting height of the BB very uncomfortable in urban areas. Every time I needed to stop, I sort of had to fall sideways, back down to earth.

base on miyata vintages catalog, runner bb with ground clearance is 295 mm on 26" wheel, rodie is 260mm with 700c :) what u said is true or i need long leg to ride :) thanks http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=377129 |
