sounds and looks like a department store "house" brand.
no ideas as to actual manufacturer.

Interesting, my mom got it from a LBS but the owner died and the shop closed so there is no local person to ask unfortunately. When I tried to search the web for it it kept giving me a surly pacer bike which lead me to believe that surly had bought "Pacer". But there is no information about a frame with Pacer on the web that I could find. By house brand I'm assuming you mean its just a re-branded frame? I'm just wondering if the frame is worth anything, might have a jewel here .

Second on the low-end asian origin.
Looks like extremely basic lugwork, slightly over-built high-tensile steel. It's not collectible, even if it might be rare. There's no Major Taylor or Fausto Coppi history there, nor is there the immaculate ride quality of a Tommasini or DeRosa, nor the idiosyncratic weirdness of a Bridgestone, nor the tea-and-crumpets cachet of most hand-built Brit bikes.
As long as you don't run it into anything, it will be a good, sturdy steed for urban transport. That's all that matters here.

The pics are lousy for identification but I agree a low end import from Asia. Are you and the bike in the U.S.? Pacer may be a 'house brand' for some parts supplier like Diamond or GT used to be before the bikes got bigger than the parts.

yes, indeedy do!
appears some enthusiastic rider used it for curb hopping or playing the "let's see how big a pothole we can find" game...
fork is likely an off-the-peg akisu, not made by the cycle mfr. the metal in these is about like what is found in one of salvador dali's watches.

Sorry for picture quality (****ty Samsung camera), what makes you guys think that the fork is bent? Because when I look at it everything looks on point. And I live in Montreal where the corruption has really taken a number on our streets and so every street has minimum 10 potholes (some bigger than others). Alright so turns out its nothing special (Hi-ten explains its weight) thanks guys for the information!
