International Cycling History Conference in Baltimore this Aug 6-9
This is a couple blocks from my work. Looks like an interesting event:
International Cycling History Conference
If anyone is interested in coordinating a visit, let me know.
"The 25th International Cycling History Conference (ICHC). To be held at the Maryland Historical Society, 201 West Monument Street, Baltimore, MD 21201-4674, on August 6-9, 2014. There will be an optional Bicycle Ride Around Washington, D.C., on August 10th following the end of the Conference for those who are interested.
This Conference is open to all persons who are interested in the history of cycling: this invitation goes out to those who wish to present a paper as well as to those who want to attend simply to enjoy the conference. There will be sessions devoted to the presentation of papers on all aspects of cycling history, there will be an exhibition of historically important bicycles and other objects connected to cycling history, and there will be a field trip to interact with some of the related objects in the vicinity of the Baltimore-Washington, D.C., area.
These International Cycling History Conferences are held each year in a different city with the emphasis changing so as to encourage coverage of events and developments related to the invention and use of bicycles, tricycles, and related wheeled vehicles that occurred throughout the world. "

Subscribed... I don't have anything planned for those dates yet, so this is getting pencilled in on my calendar.

I stopped by today at lunch and saw some of the set up, and met a few folks I know: David Herlihy, and a friend who works at the Historical Society. The exhibit is open to the public today at 4, and there are events and rides this evening and weekend. I took a few pics during the setup: lots of high wheelers and other 19th century bikes. A nice Paramount in my size, but nothing else I'd actually want to go for a spirited ride on. I'll stop by again today at 5. If anyone else is in the area and wants to connect there, drop me a PM.
