Restoring a 1988 Bianchi Grizzly...
1 Attachment(s)
I'm restoring a 1988 Bianchi Grizzly and need a little help. The bikes in good shape but someone replaced the original fork with a duotrak 7007 suspension fork. I would like to replace it with something close to the original rigid fork but I don't have any of the original specs.
I know it a 1" threaded steerer but I still need the axle to crown length and the rake. Does anyone have a Grizzly they can measure? or a spare fork??.... I posted a pic below for reference.... Thanks |
That year Grizzly had a lugged unicrown fork. It was probably a Tange fork branded as Bianchi, probably double butted.
I have a celeste 1" fork from a Bianchi Peregrine that is one or two years later than your bike. The specs are probably the same. No lug over the unicrown, and the paint is rough, so it would need to be repainted if you are looking for a restoration. |
That's pretty much what I'm looking for. I'm planning to repaint it anyway. What do you want for it? Got any pics? Thanks

I came this close to snagging one of these a local thrift store about two months ago. I really regret not getting it when I first saw it.

I've got an 84 so I won't be much help unfortunately. Nice bike tho

I am looking for a restoration or something aftermarket. Has anyone found any aftermarket rigid forks that can fit my bianchi grizzly?

Bianchi had separate catalogs in '87/88 for their MTBs for some reason. The '88 fork is simply listed as a 'Tange MTB chromoly with reinforced unicrown' There are no dimensions given for it bbut in the '89 catalog the rake is 50 the HT angle is 73 and the seattube is 71
I think any NON suspension corrected quality fork would work as I don't believe there is a huge difference in the axle to crown length. It is hard to tell from the pic but does your TT slope or slant a bit? They generally horizontal on lager frames during this era. here is a pic of the fork, the reinforcements almost look like lugs http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=381782 |
That sounds about right. I ended up going with a chromium fork from an aftermarket online shop. Will post pictures when it's fully restored. Thanks
