Door to door shipping recommendations?

Figuring a lot of people here are buying bikes on ebay so seems like the right forum to ask. I've seen a few auctions on bikes that seller is not offering shipping but they have said if I handle all the shipping then they are ok with it.

Are there any services that will pick up a bike for you and handle all the boxing and shipping so the seller doesn't have to do anything? I have looked at this

The Best Lowest Bicycle Shipping in America and Worldwide | ShipBikes

But it seems a box would still have to be send to the seller and seller would have to box it up

Contact a local bike shop to pick up and ship. Sometimes the sellers will deliver to a LBS if your lucky

An LBS may (maybe) be qualified to take a bicycle out of a box and put it together but there are very, very few qualified to put one in a box, ship it past their front door and have it arrive undamaged. Don't even think about it.

I second this. I buy a lot of bikes from Ebay. Every time one has been packed by a "professional", i.e. a bike shop, it has been the worst job I have ever seen and almost always there is damage. I mean I have seen the stupidest things done in packing by a bike shop, like freewheels left to rub on the frame, no padding or packing material whatsoever, etc.

Have the seller drop it off at shop near a big University....we packed and shipped a lot of bikes for college students.

At the end of the day shipbikes can get expensive.

Another option is to have the bike dropped off at Trek dealer and tell them to package it in a Madone box.
