Winners 2000 hubs?

I was able to score a cheap orphaned Mavic front wheel off of eBay recently. It apparently has a "Winners 2000" hub:

Has anyone ever heard of these? All I can find online are links to other eBay auctions and a few pictures. No actual history.

(Apologies for the mediocre photo. It's the seller's photo, since I haven't received it yet.)

Not sure if it's the same one I have the rear hub of, but it seems very nice and light to me. The rear is a roller clutch I think, silent and immediate engagement. Heard some problems with the rears but have really liked it so far. Don't think they were around for very long.

Ditto to both of DN's points. They were very light U.S.-made aluminum hubs from about the year 2000. The company only lasted a year or two- many (all?) of them failed quickly. Here's some reading: https://pardo.net/bike/pic/mobi/d.winners-hub/index.html

The rear wheel has a nice enough hub (Campagnolo Triomphe / Victory) that I have no plans to replace it to match the Winners 2000, even if I could find one. Mainly I wanted to make sure that it was vaguely functional, at least for the time being.

I got a new pair of 32 hole, Uniglide 8 speed ones off of eBay that are really pretty. They remind me of Dura Ace 7700 crossed with some of the early silver American Classics I've seen. The roller clutch freehub is pretty cool if you ask me.

Let us know how long the rear one lasts. (See above.)

I have so many classic wheel build ideas in the pipeline that the prospect of building yet another unique wheel set involving the Winners hubs might not happen for another 10 years. They would make a pretty sweet combo paired up w/ Velocity A23 polished silver rims along with some quality, slightly high bling skewers like Salsa Flip Offs or or Dura Ace 7400.

You should try riding it. I'm around 140lbs and it has lasted quite a while. I thought I might have noticed a bit of slippage on some steep hills in a low gear, but was never sure. I don't expect it to last that long, but the instant engagement feels really nice, especially in stop and go, riding through traffic type situations.

Cool! This is encouraging & the instant engagement thing sounds useful in a variety of situations - not just city riding.
