Hey, the kitchen is my winter work spot. Wife does not mind in the least !
I think every bike has spent time in the kitchen. I also keep 1 to 2 bikes in the corner that are regular riders. Plus there are the 2 in the mudroom that never will hang anywhere else.

except new wheels, which i prefer to build in my living room, my kitchen is where i build my bikes. it's perfectly laid out for me. the wine's in there. the big sink for cleaning and polishing stuff. food. and wonderful light from the windows. during the process, i take pics of the parts on my kitchen tables for craigs ads.

'84 club fuji parts
i also keep one of my own bikes in there. i love to hop up on the counter, eat giant heaps of cereal and stare at it.

Sorry, took me three years of evenings and weekends to build a dream kitchen for my wife. Now (a) It really don't think she wants bikes in there, and (b) now that I'm done, I swore that I'd never go in there again except to get a beer.
Perhaps in return, I'll ask that she refrains from cooking in the garage.

Even though I've downsized since the Great Recession, not going to happen in any kitchen of mine, past, present, or future. Thankfully old homes have basements and/or garages. But there are a few wall hangers in the dining area, a Colnago, PX10, and a lavender Paramount, which has been for sale.
Future Under Development - original house circa 1924
Present - original house circa 1914
Past - original house circa 1844

I don't think anyone would mind if you bent the rules and showed a picture of those wall hangers in the dining area...

I'll add my pic to the mix once home tonight.

When we bought our house we told ourselves we would re-model the kitchen first thing. It took us 20 years to get around to it. We were told the house was built in the 40's, and when we finally re-modeled we pulled out the old toilet and found a sticker Aug 1940. It could have been manufactured before the house was built, of course.
As for bikes in the kitchen, the stairway to the basement comes up into the kitchen. I have no choice. When I suggested to my sweetie that I had too many bikes she wouldn't let me consider selling any of them.
OJ2, your kitchens look(ed) great!

Beautiful kitchens, I love old homes. My current (rental) is turn of the century. Rough shape, but I'm only stopping through. I would love to own an older home and bring it to as nice of condition as you have managed past/present/future. Is there any particular reason you are drawn to C&V homes?

It's all about the neighborhood and C & V homes are located within walking/riding distance to downtown CBDs and they have sidewalks too. The homes themselves have neat features like front porches, nifty millwork, real wood trim, high ceilings, wood floors, and landscaping with mature trees. Unfortunately, during a storm I lost a big white pine in the ADK last year, which was over 4' in diameter and cost over $4K to remove.

Tonights work time, my 84 Schwinn High Sierra getting the parts it deserves.Kitchens just work for doing the extra little bit of work during the night. Tho' wheel building is better in the living room.
Wife just looked and went on with dinner. Important to remember not to wear out my welcome as the workspace is cleaned and cleared at the end of the night.
