1987 Cannondale SR500 Nitto Stem question....
Hello!
I am refurbishing an '87 Cannondale SR500, and I have a question about the Nitto stem. I know the Nitto stem came with the bike as equipped from Cannondale, but was it painted blue as in my case from the factory? I did tons of research and I have found a few with blue painted Nitto stems so I am wondering if the painted stems are home brewed. I want to restore my bike to original as possible so please let me know about the Nitto stem. Thanks in advance!!!

U5512, The '88 catalog does show the blue quill stem. Your bike may actually be an '88 model year model if made late enough in '87.

Thanks for your reply and it does make a lot of sense to me now as my bike was made in late October of 1987. I will keep it painted blue then as I have seen another SR500 just like it and it was made in October of 1987 as well. Thanks!!!

Good looking stem. I have a "black lightening" nitto stem that came off a c'dale as well.
