Any Late 80's Trek Experts Out There?

Hey guys! I'm new to the forums but I was told I should come on over here and post some pictures of my ride. I'm pretty new to cycling as a whole, but recently I found this old Trek through a buddy at my local bike shop. It was sitting in the attic, and when they told me they only wanted $150 for it, I figured I should jump!

So far as I can tell, it's a 88 or 89 520. Everything on it appears to be stock, and I even got the Blackburn rack with it. Anyway, I thought I'd share some pictures (though it appears the uploader doesn't like my hi-res camera) and get some feedback from you guys!

Is there anyone here who can help me nail down which year it is? I went through the Trek catalogs and I think the 88 and 89 520s were painted and decaled the same, but are there other differences I can look for?

I LOVE this bike, it's so smooth and fun to ride! Anyway, let me know what you think!

Looks like the 89, but if you go to vintagetrek website, you can nail down the date with the serial number.

Thanks! Where can I find the serial number? I figured it had to be stamped on the frame somewhere but I wasn't sure where to look.

Nice bike. Like Sloar said, go to vintage-trek.com and you can get a lot of good info on identification.

Look underneath the bottom of the bike.

The serial number should be stamped into the frame on the underside of the bottom bracket shell.

My 85 trek serial number was on the bottom bracket under the derailleur cable guides.
