Help me decide between some bikes
I am looking at a drop conversion project from these 6
I am 5'11'' btw 26" Scott Adventure Trail Mtn Bike Gary Fisher Tassajara CANNONDALE M300 18in Mountain Bike Raleigh Seneca Mountain Tour Bike - Green bridge stone mountain bike Jamis 18 speed mountain bike |
The Raleigh is what I would pick if it's a good fit.
You could even sell the bullmoose bars to help fund the project. |
Actually, the Raleigh's bars are rare and should be retained, and also because that frame requires a 21.15mm stem. That could be a PITA when trying to find the correct stem for a drop conversion. I think the Raleigh is too big and the top tube too long and angles too slack for drop bar fit.
You need a 19.5-21" frame. |

Hi MikesChevelle. I have a Raleigh Elkhorn Mtn Tour that is sort of my conversion bike. Instead of swapping the bar, I rotated it forward for a lower posture. Doesn't add hand positions though. Thought the image might help you through the process. Any one of those bikes would do nicely.http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=387961

The Raleigh is too big. I'd go with the Bridgestone or the Jamis; whichever has the best components.

If you are 5'11" those are all to small for you. I am local and can hook you up for chump change on a Diamondback Ascent in your size.

Consider that MTBs have relatively long top tubes compared to road bikes, plus the shape of a drop bar puts your hands further forward. Smaller might be better, if you are okay with a somewhat long seatpost.
