Friday Night Racing at Marymoor Park Velodrome
It's that time of year again
Racing starts tomorrow night at 1900 (7pm to you non-military types). I'm going to drive down with a bike, hit the Sammamish River Trail for about 2 hours prior and be there on top of the first turn by the start of the first race.
I know this is short notice, so whomever shows up, shows up. But I'm also posting this in the hopes that we can think about trying to plan ahead for a ride/race spectator night of it sometime in the future. For those of you who don't know where it is, I've linked a map. Parking is usually a couple bucks and entry to the racing is around five bucks. There are usually food caravans there and there is always a beer garden
So, let's think about a firm date, maybe middle of July?

I biked down and back from Bothell to Redmond after work today to check out the trail. The bugs were horrible. Mid July should be much better. July 11 is nearly full moon which is good for anyone foolish enough to ride home afterwards. I'm thinking of round-tripping it myself, with headlight of course. My biggest fear is not being able to see the dog poo on the trail.
I turned around when I reached a detour on the trail just north of 520. Not sure how to connect to Marymoor from that point. No racing July 4 and 25.

I could be up for a Sammamish ride and velodrome viewing. Just needs a Friday date to plan around. Full moons and new moons that occur on a clear night usually draw me to other activities.

and a wilderness walker, so slow, it takes an overnight to complete a day's journey. Might as well enjoy the night as much as the day.
From Kelly Butte Look-out earlier this week.
edit: we now return you to the Marymoor Velodrome discussion. I'm in for the right Friday night.
