Would you happen to know what day of the year yours was build (the 4-digit code on the head badge)? Mine is 115 (1155). Just curious if it got changed or if they did a swap at the factory. I started selling Schwinns in 1986, and we did not have any left by the time I got there.

Unless you have a 1986, then I think your last digit should be a 5. The first three digits were the day of the year (numbered sequentially), the last digit is the year (5=1985). I did an initial frame check when I bought it and did not see any issues at the time. The full tear down will include a more detailed check. I need to pull the seat post and see if there is a date code on it.

1985 Cimarron serial #1995
Tried to post picts… but too many rules!
Bought & built mine while working at Clifton Park Schwinn, NY.
Mostly original, I swapped out the saddle, mushroom grips & mini toe clips (love them).
Trying out Michelin Country Rock tires for the rail trail this spring.
Cheers,
JoeZaza
