...I'm a lazy bum and can't find the time to re-true the noodley Fiamme Ergal rimmed wheelset on it. it so bad now that it the front wheel is starting to make creaking sounds near the valve hole:eek: and the rear rim is starting to rub against the brake pads when I stand on the pedals..... maybe I'm just starting to not like Fiamme Ergals that much anymore??:rolleyes:...but dang!, they're so light and so classic looking........ or maybe I'm just worried I'll pull a nipple through a rim when I re-tension the wheels.....:twitchy:

I'm not riding any but my city bike, and that only occasionally because we bought an acre and a half at the edge of a village close by and I'm working over there every day. Way too tired to even think about riding after that.

Because my son borrowed the wheels from my Trek 660 for the Mt. Wachusset hill climb race and hasn't returned them yet.:(

....I've been saving my YELLOW, fast, carbon, recently tuned roadie - I ride it hard nearly every day in July.

C&V content = vintage roadies on rest days.

Because I can't resist buying a bike for under $50, tune it up and ride it just for fun. I have six of them. Meanwhile my favorite, a Superb, sits in the back of the garage

....it's very hot here, and I don't like watching sweat drip off my chin onto a De Rosa, Italian paint being what it isn't.

....I just finished putting a compact crankset and long-cage rear on the D'Arienzo/Basso, and the 12-29 cassette came in yesterday. I haven't ridden that build a foot since receiving the frameset in January. It's just too pretty. I think Centenario d' Bartali will change that.

On hot muggy days, a bike gets pretty gritty in short order. Carbon, expendable, same thing...

There are mulberries all over the local Constitution Trail and I can't stand cleaning the berries off the down tube of my Raleigh International

Speaking of rims, I won't be commuting on the Masi on clincher rims until I restring them, having broken a spoke nipple yesterday. The sew-up wheels are still ready to go though.

Ha! My bike with Ergals has been hanging in the basement unrideable for weeks, because I can't find time to rebuild the wheel. I admit I'm a bit intimidated by these rims. Got to screw up my courage and have at them.

It's too d@mn hot here to ride! It's unhealthy to be out in 110 F, and have the sun beating down upon you. It's 90+F still at 11pm.
One has to head out at 4:30am to be in 80-85 F temps. Only the diehard roadies are out at that time.
The only others out riding are those with DUIs or need to commute via bike.

Boy do I miss riding. (busy putting together my touring bike for my escape from the desert.)

My fuji needs new pads and rotors and I really can't be bothered spending $100 when I already have 3 other bikes good to go. It can wait till I have some spare cash. Not planning on mtbing at the moment anyway.

... too many commitments and obligations on weekends to take the fun ride out. Good thing I commute to get into shape, just not long enough.

Because I work 45 hours a week as a starting point at my main job, then alternate Saturdays at an auto parts store. I can sneak in an hour of two wrenching in the evenings, and Sunday afternoons if I'm not mowing the grass which is growing like mad right now.

I do ride with a "vintage" bike group on Sunday mornings most weeks, but they are far from athletic, and as of now are mostly riding repop Pashleys and the like. I'll be lucky to break 11mph with that group, as I am the ONLY one who rides drop bars. The sad part is that the older bikes are mostly dept store bikes, and are in sad shape. Cranks tapping on kickstands, chains so dry they constantly squeal, low tires that they don't seem to notice. If they weren't friends I'd ditch them.:lol:.,,,,BD

you should drop some knowledge on them.. have a repair clinic instead of a ride some morning, sit around with some coffee and learn them up... :)

I haven't ridden several of my bikes for a while because...I can ride only one at a time.

LOL- I ride that same trail, but love the mulberries. We stop and pick them from the bushes, good for breakfast cereal topping or as a snack at that little Japanese garden.

RT- Good chance its going to be a blistering hot day of a ride. Will lose 10 lbs just riding it!

Now onto my slacking reason for not riding as much this last few weeks..... three little grandkids! Saturday AM group riding plus I'll sneak a few extra in before chores. Other than that, not much.

Quite occupied with the kids. They're like cute raccoons getting into everything, wanting to do everything... fun. If one calls it biking, riding only the clunkers I'll putz around the hood with them. Maybe today will rig the trailer onto the tandem.

I haven't ridden two in a while because I recently learned that MTBing is damn fun in Colorado. My High Sierra and Trek 620 have been feeling neglected. At least the former is now being converted to a all-weather, comfort commuter.

Don't worry though -- my MTB is C&V by most MTBing standards. At 20 years old it is the youngest in the fleet by 6 or 7 years.

I'm starting to feel like a heretic.. only bike I've ridden the past week or so is my CB-2 and only for short trips...

....because they're in transit somewhere on a truck since I just moved back across the country again for the second time in 3 years. I do have a few local options including a Ti road bike I bought months ago and had stashed away here in PA. I need to go get it.

If one needs repairing or servicing, I take care of that immediately, so nothing sits. Even the mountain bike my son left behind when he moved out stands cleaned, serviced, and ready to rock. Got rid of the bikes I didn't like riding a long time ago. I've got plenty of time. Retirement is great.

Yes you need to get it.. like yesterday! Congrats on the successful move, I never have enjoyed a cross country move.

I can't make up my mind which one to ride.
