Is My High Sierra Too Yellow? (No TdF Content)
Is this just too much yellow? No, this is not about the Tour de France.
While I was waiting for my '88 Schwinn High Sierra to arrive in NH, I acquired some bits to enhance the ride while trying to maintain a late '80s vibe. I found a rear Blackburn Mountain Rack at the dump, black SKS fenders on CL, and a matching front Blackburn rack on ebay. I then bid on and won the pictured Cannondale yellow panniers and bag (plus two more yellow handlebar bags & a yellow rain jacket ).
Also a C&Ver had mentioned how treking bars would be great for this bike. I picked up a set from Nashbar for under $20. Finally, my stash of tires included a pair of Panaracers High Road V 26X1.50 smooth tread tires.
Cleaned it up a bit more, added the bits, bags and tires, for all this yellow glory, but is this much yellow overkill? All thoughts, criticisms, cheers, and skewers welcome.

First thing popped into my mind was Joni Mitchell's song Big Yellow Taxi. It's definitely a lot of yellow however you'll be very visible. If you don't mind the attention & comments about how yellow everything is then go for it.

Not to worry, those yellow bags won't stay yellow for long.
Kind of reminds me of my high viz yellow Aerostich motorcycle suit. It was high viz for a week or two.....

One more thing - you won't have a hard time finding your bike in a crowd of other bikes. Do you own a high vis yellow cycling jacket?

Could throw some of those yellow tires they make for the hipsters on there too. I mean, yea, if you've gone this far, you just gotta go all the way. There'd be just enough black left on there for some contrast.

for some reason, i'm reminded of a tv miniseries from '85, 'the blue, the grey, and the yellow: civil war memories of the cowardly.'

Glad to see I'm in good company on those low pressure ultra cheap Panaracer High Road Vs!

@auchencrow, I thought about yellow bar tape instead of the black, but couldn't find the correct shade. But the Concor saddle and that tape look sweet!
I should have mentioned I picked up the new black Brooks B17 over the winter from CL as well.
@wrk101, @Velocivixen and @mattk42, thanks for the comments. I do have a HiVis cycling jacket but rarely wear it. I guess these NH roads are just so cycle friendly, i just don't need to.
I should have taken a picture with just the handlebar bag mounted. That's the way I'll ride it most of the time. Of course I also have a dark blue, a medium blue, and a black bag which should all work. I proablay also have a red one, but that woud not looks so great

How do you like them? I was surprised about the 40psi max. I finished this up yesterday but the brakes need more adjustments so I've not really ridden them. Also, I discovered I had several teeth broken on the freewheel. But my initial efforts to remove it were not successful. One of the first freewheels I've met that I couldn't remove on the first try!

I have them on my Miyata drop bar conversion. They are heavy, don't feel quick, but certainly the ride is plush and the bike coasts well. At $10 each, how can I complain? I like them better than some wider Kenda slicks.
I have a pair of Forte and also a pair of Specialized Fat Boys to run them against one of these days.

I'm not sure that it's quite yellow enough.

In addition to the saddle and bar tape, you must add these and these before you even think about being "too yellow."
And these.
And these.

I think I agree. If I have the chance this afternoon, I'll pose "Old Yellor" with different colored handle bar bags, and we can run a poll to vote.
Good cultural reference! Great movies. I think I found my nick name for this ride.

It will be hard to be mistaken for a deer while I ride the rail trail through the forest this November. Do they make yellow kevlar cycling shorts and jersey?

Looks great Bob! But I think a black seat post would match better. If only the silver post had flutes. Then you can fill them in with yellow and black.
