The Strangest Thing I Found Today.....
Figured I would start a thread for the odd things we come across. Be it on the road, found on bikes or whatever. I'll start. Below is a homebrew solution to fix an old Suntour Mountech derailleur. This came to me on a mid-80's mountain bike I picked up recently. Pretty cool repair.

I have a Mountech II GTL, which apparently was the third iteration of that derailleur & fixed the problem that they had. Would love to have another one, as the cage is a bit loose at the rivets.

I believe the quarter is serving as the upper jockey wheel. Seems like it would have been easier to find a new wheel. Then again it probably would have cost more than a quarter.

@due route - I believe the jockey wheel is behind the plate where the quarter is, but maybe can't see it. There's a thread with a partial tear down of this derailleur here:

I'm always stopping for crap I see on the road side, I slow down to scan piles of trash. The most unusual thing I have found has been a Van Briggle vase, actually a fairly rare variety, 1930's era.

I didn't exactly find this on the road. It was staring up out of the mud at me 30' underwater.
