Decals wanted
1 Attachment(s)
Hello, i'm new here. This is my first post. I'm sorry if i'm posting in the wrong place? I tried to post in the section "Want to Buy" but it's only allowed to post to paid membership only and i can't afford it just to post a question on a forum.
I got for free this old Gitane bike that i wish to restore, so i was wondering if there's any way to buy the exact same decals for a reasonable price (sub $50)? What year/model Gitane is it? Thank you! http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=392783 Full res: http://i.imgur.com/QAsdpi0.jpg |
Welcome
RIGHT PLACE!!! 70's Grand Sport?? maybe Decals on eBay Take a picture of the other side... Take pictures of each component and really try to get them in focus And pictures of each decal... will help Date it look here fro decals Gitane Seat Tube Bands Decals | eBay Gitane Grand Sport 1970 | eBay |
|
They look slightly different than the average Gitane Grand Sport decals - if you look on the seat post, there are extra stripes under/above the triangle parts?
|
It lists a bunch of prices for stickers for different places, which if you add up comes out to about $100 for the whole bike, is that correct?? I thought even $50 for bike decals was waay too much! |
You have to go the $46 link on ebay for the full set.

But those prices... for stickers ffs! It is a separate argument that the whole bike is worthy of that attention. I would clean it up, service the bike well and keep the messed up foil graphics that are there, fool graphics are always tender. |

Is that $20 just for one sticker pair or for the full set covering all the bike?

Looks to be the same set that kc0yef pointed you to on ebay. This is just directly from the manufacturer. As for the price. That's a 30-40 year old bicycle. The fact that someone is making near-perfect reproduction decals at all is impressive. I think $50 is entirely reasonable. You could always go and buy a new carbon fiber cannondale for $5k! |

If copies didn't exist, cost would be a min of $100 for one set. It is more complex than copy/paste.

But those prices... for stickers ffs! New paint and decals can be more a labor of love... than a profitable investment. |
