Peugeot Lions face opposite ways **********
hi folks, Noticed something a wee while ago about 80s Peugeot frame decals . Some have the lion facing backwards ,others forward .
Have two 531 charcoal frames which are very similar that have the lions opposite ? Both have decals from new .
Also have a pearl PSV with lion facing backwards.
My question for other Peugeot owners is which way do yours face ?
Also does anyone have any thoughts on why etc ?

those are cool bikes.
peugeot hasn't really stuck with one particular lion over the 200 some years on all its products. he goes both ways, even head on.
most of the headbadges you'll see face right, which isn't necessarily forward, it's just to the right.
i would like to see one facing left on an older bike than '70. anybody got one?

Just seemed a bit odd to have them facing both ways,on the seat tube ,
on what are approximately the same year and same decal scheme .
Just a wee bit of french idiosyncrasy I guess huh ?

maybe. but i'd rather it be facing differently than the seat tube decal actually being crooked like it was on my '80 pkn10.

Just noticed, 1simplexnut. You're in New Zealand. Lions face the opposite direction in the Southern Hemisphere, of course. Your one bike is obviously from the north.

On almost all Peugeot bikes from the 84 and later, the lion on the set tube should always face back towards the rear wheel on both sides of the seat tube....
Except for the model PY10FC, their top of the line carbon fiber framed bike back then where the factory wasn't so consistent and I've seen the face both forward and backwards on the seat tubes. and sometimes forward on one side and backwards on the other. I think this was because the decals were vinyl, stick-on type that were not clear coated over, so maybe the QA on the decal mounting wasn't too strict about the lion decal on the seat tube. It's a French bike, so I guess finding some quirkiness on them isn't so surprising.....
Note the forward facing lion decals on my PY10FC project bike frameset:
