School me on my MESSINA Columbus SL Frame

Hi everyone,

I just bit the bullet and got another used frame on eBay.it.

I am hoping these measurements will be a good fit for me.

my previous 57x58 frame was too "long" for me with more than standard exposed seatpost, even with a 70mm stem.
this one is supposed to be 58x56, which should in theory solve my problems.

does anyone know what a shorter top tube (horizontal) means in terms of geomtry ? someone I know hinted at a custom frame ?
is it supposed to be 'tighter' ? it would seem to be that a shorter top tube means more agressive angles, but what do I know...

other than that, the 58cm frame is supposed to weigh 1.9kg, with a 700gr fork... it seems to me that this is amongst the lowest weight a columbus sl setup can reach ?

also, does MESSINA ring a bell for anyone ? i know it's a city near Rome.

thanks in advance (-:

edit : headbadge on seller's photobucket indicates

viale. Anicio Gallo (sp?) <--- looks like a street in roma

i'm quite curious about the 58x56 geo as well.

I don't think a 58X56 is unusual at all. I've got 2 Italians from the 80s, both are approx 60X58. But it could be a custom. To look at the frame angles we need a side shot.

edit: Messina is a city on Sicily, the northeast corner. Sailors of the Mediterranean all know the crowded Straits of Messina.

58 CTC or 58 CTT? If it is the latter then normal, if it is the former then maybe custom.

I like your bike!

ebay description claims center to center measurements, but i'm waiting on real data.

no side shot in the mean time.

can anyone identify the lugs ?
what can be said about this frame ? anyone with a quick evaluation ?
