1985 Trek 520 fender and tire questions.

So the 1985 trek was listed as a sports tourer, this classification gave it side pull single pivor Shimano 600 brakes rather than the cantileve brakes of previous and later years. As I dont have a wealth of fender sizes and tire combinations on hand to try, I want to see what ccombinations have worked for other owners.

So my question is, what is the max size, or what brands have worked best for you, and what tires you ran under those fenders?
