Paramount Serial number help
I googled for about an hour and found a lot, mostly from Scooper but no definitive answer. From the NDS dropout- L625. I did find what may be a clue from the stem. Perhaps 1973 but that serial number doesn't seem to go with that date. The stem seems earlier than mid 70's. 27" wheels.

L625
It's the 25th Paramount frameset scheduled for production in November, 1966. It was probably built to 1967 model year specs. From "Dating Your Paramount" on the Waterford website: The First Serialized Date Code This system was used from January 1966 through 1969. It consisted of three components - • Month Code: This one letter code corresponds to the month with A=January, B=February and so on. Because I is not used, September=J and December=M. • Year Code: This one digit code is the last digit of the year - 6 is 1966. • Sequence Number: This two digit number represents the nth frame and/or fork scheduled during the month. For example, H763 is the sixty-third frame or fork scheduled during August of 1967. |
WOW! If that is the original Radiant Coppertone paint and pinstripes, that teaser picture makes me droll for more pics. Don't hesitate to post more. :D

I found the '67 catalog P13 posted by Scooper. The specs match exactly. Thanks Stan. I am guessing it would have English threaded Campagnolo bottom bracket. I want to remove it for grease inspection along with the headset and hubs. I have not serviced any Campaq hubs, only Shimano.

Radiant Coppertone loveliness!
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d7...GIFs/BLING.jpg EDIT - The BB threading should be British Standard 1.370" X 24 tpi, fixed (right) cup left threaded, adjustable (left) cup right threaded. BB shell width is 68mm. |

Wow! Nice score. Truly a beautiful Paramount. Since we are in the same locale where did you find it? I didn't see it on Ebay or our local CL.
Looks like I may have to pay you a visit. Is it a rider or flipper? |
Very, very nice.
Curious, when did Schwinn finally make the move to an alloy stem? |

Well that is a beautiful Radiant Coppertone, and maybe the best example of one with original paint and pinstripes! :D Stunning! My droll is puddling on my keyboard.

And the move to an alloy stem? From what I saw it was just a few years after this example but others might know for sure. |
