The lugs are regular chromed, not with cutouts like the one you have.
I'll check the serial number tonight when back home.
Forgot to write that the tubing are Tre-Tubi Columbus, if this will help.

After checking, there is a serial number under the bottom bracket #152, no triangle symbol before.
Tubing are Columbus Acier 3-tubi, the frame has been all chromed before painting, I can see chrome under paint peeling out in some spots.

regarding posting images - with under ten posts the system will not only not let one post images but url's cannot be posted either. one workaround is to make a gallery of the bike's photos and post it to one of the photo hosting sites. then post the url in munged fashion here. you can leave off part of the addie and give it to readers in text form. in this manner they will be able to view your cycle and give you more meaningful responses.

It is 56 x 56. I bought the frame in a local Montreal bike shop. It was not inexpensive $700.00 CAD = about 500 USD but worth it to me Torpadoguy, I had to have it. I will check to see if he has any in 58. Check out my other posts, I sent a link to an original 58 from the mid 50's unrestored, all original. For me the holy grail of Torpado bikes, too bad it's too big for me.

Buona Sera Don Sal,

This frame is the same as Torresini's ItalVega Nuovo Record from the early 1970's. Look up "ItalVega Nuovo Record", either here at the forum or elsewhere, to see lots of these. Dropouts are Campag 1010 while fork ends are stamped. Tubing is three-tube butted Columbus, blades and stays unspecified.

The Italvega version of the early 1970's came fitted with Stronglight 49D chainset, Campag NR gear ensemble, Universal 61 centrepull brakes, 3TTT Touriste stem/bar set, Sheffield pedals, Campag NT large flange hubs, tubular rims/tyres, plain straight saddle pillar.

Have not seen the Torpado version as a built up cycle.

Very beautiful torpado and nicely presented to attract buyers.

Even though the price isnt too far off I personally would offer around 300. A personal pet peeve of mine is to have all components match even though this bicycle may be all original.

Seller may also be factoring in the overhaul price into the selling price to recuperate the monies.

My first thought was that the Brooks saddle might be driving up the price lol. Seller also has a great looking Miyata 710 for $200. I think I'll send a message and see if I can look at both bikes. I'll bring $300-400 and see if I can't negotiate down.

I had what I believe was a entry level 1960s Torpado Alpha that I got when working a bikes for humanity event - old road bikes don't make the trip to Africa and the guy running the volunteer event knew was an old bike nut. This was one of the projects I could never quite get to so I sold it and most of the new consumables I purchased for it to someone looking for a project, it was completely disassembled when I sold it.

Here is a Torpado i restored about 10 years ago. I found it in not so bad condition but with lots of gunk, some corrosion. I took it all apart, put some fresh grease in all bearings, new cables and some hours of polishing. Here's the result! And it ran like new!

1972 ItalVega Grand Rally left for dead in a field in Moro Bay Ca. I bought this from a bike flipper in Santa Maria for $100.00 . I figured that the parts were worth more than that . When I got it home and started tinkering with it , I decided it should see the road again! Too nice of a bike to part out. I am really glad that I did this as it rides very well! I changed the wheels , headset , and brakes . I put new cable clips as the old ones had to be cut off! The nice thing about this bike is that the grease was good in all the bearings which surprised me. The rust actually had to be scraped off and then various stages of steel wool , staying away from any decals that were left. The leather that was on the Cinelli saddle just fell off in one piece so I saved it and will just use the saddle as is . I have pondered the bike's history in my mind but that will have to remain a mystery , the only thing that matters is that it is back on the road! Joe
