Help trying to ID this Bianchi frame

I saw this today but wasn't able to pinpoint which frame/model it might be. I looked through some 80's catalogs but wasn't quite able to pinpoint. I'm guessing it is a lower end frame. Fork/drops didn't seem like they are original to the frame.
Thanks.

The Special tubing was used in '85, at least here in the states, and was used on 6 different models. Only the top three had a chromed chain stay. It would be almost impossible to determine which model it was unless the original parts were still on it.

I agree the fork is most likely a replacement for some reason. It almost looks like aluminum.

Thanks - I guessed might be difficult to ID without some original parts to go on. What is the Special tubing? Is it similar to SL/SLX or combination... or something completely different?

No one knows/remembers any more. Near as a few other members and can put together the Special, Formula 1 and 2 tubesets were a mix of SL or SP for the DT and CS and maybe Alle or CroMor for the rest. SP being used in larger frames. It could even be a mix of SL/SP and Falck or some other lesser known tubing.

I suspect the whole idea was not only to get a good ride quality but also to keep cost down. FWIW I have a '88 with the Formula 2 tubing and it rides great.

Am I confused but weren't you looking at a EL frame?
