Columbia Sport circa 1950s -1960's
Is this anything worth restoring? It looks cool. It was my dads bike back in the day. I don't need an appraisal. I just wondered if it is anything significant.

Not a valuable bike, and not "significant."
But it's a good candidate for "restoration-lite." Take everything off of it, clean the paint thoroughly, buff it with fine cut rubbing compound then wax it. All the rusty chrome bits can be dunked in an oxalic acid bath for derustification (google it, there's plenty of info on the subject) then wax all the de-rusted parts, put it all back together with new cable and cable guides, new tubes & tires, fresh grease and maybe new bearings, etc.
If it's your size, you might even want to ride it! You will never, ever get your money out of it, as the cost of new tires, tubes cables, chain etc will amount to more than any reasonable person will pay for it. So do it if you want a fun project, not as an investment.

Clean the gunk off the rear hub and there should be a date on it. I would say late 60's early 70's. The date will be in a format like 68 8 which would mean August of 1968.
I also concur that it is not a particularly valuable bike, but they make a good solid everyday bike. I have a similar Raleigh Sports from 1972 that has been ridden in excess of 35,000 miles as a daily rider with minimal maintenance. It is now in semi-retirement, but still a very ridable bike.

Columbia bicycles, at least to me, are quite similar to Schwinn bicycles. They'll withstand a nuclear holocaust along with cockroaches.
