Robin Williams RIP
 

The reason i'm posting this here is because i was a fan of his work. He was a very big avid cyclist. Owned many bicycles including some of the Colnago Stash's and Futura's. He collected and rode bicycles, he was one of "us".

I always enjoyed his sense of humor, his stand up was a little crude at some points, it seemed like he was battling drugs and alcohol for a while now.

Either way, RIP to a legend in comedy and movies.

According to my very proper grandmama, his standup (however crude) was absolutely killer. She caught him at one of the big comedy clubs in SF just before
"Mork and Mindy" hit big; said she never laughed so hard in her life.

I'm so sad. Robin Williams was one of the greatest talents of my generation. Even my kids are sad. His performances spanned generations.

Brilliant talent, one of the best improv comedians in history, and some memorable acting, not always in "big" movies, nice body of work.

I was about 20 and in LA at the Comedy Store on Sunset Blvd, at about 1;30 my friend said lets go we had come to see Paul Mooney, but I was hearing some buzz about how the last guy on was so funny. So I talked my friend into staying. Williams came out, I was laughing till the end of the show, Thought he was the funniest guy I ever saw. Soon after he was on Mork and Mindy

I dont understand this depression thing.Sad very sad. If you think your depressed, get on your bicycle and ride. I am sure you will feel better after. Wish Williams would of gotten on his bike.

I can only imagine that being a comedian (a damn good one too) and dealing wih depression would be a tough combination. You don't feel funny, people expect you to always be funny, you feel like your not living up to expectations...it would become a vicious downward spiral.

Even though I'm below the average age here, I grew up watching Mork and Mindy on Nick at Nite when I was a kiddo. It led me to look out for all of his stuff, including watching some wildly age inappropriate standup, I think back when HBO used to do those free runs to get people to buy HBO or maybe I found the video at blockbuster or something. He was absolutely one if the funniest people to ever take a stage. I heard the news today driving back from work and it hit me like a punch in the stomach. Never has a celebrity death seemed to hit so hard for me.

Another amazing talent gone too soon.

Robin was Bipolar battling depression and addiction we all lost our funny best friend today... Pedal easy Robin

RIP Robin. Haven't seen all his work but a fair amount. Great talent! One of the funniest was his interpretation of how golf was invented. LMAO every time! To tears!

My wife and I have always greatly enjoyed his work. This comes as a shock.

Just last month we lost another favorite actor, James Garner.

I keep going through all of the movie roles that I enjoyed over the years, along with Mork & Mindy, and his stand-up act.

I love the quote I have been reminded of a few times in the last several hours...

You're only given one little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it.

I was on the fence about posting this because of the way he went out. But he had depression which is a mental illness combined with a drug and drinking problem. Many of us will never know what it's like to be depressed so it's hard to understand what he's going through.

You always wonder what could be the problems of a man who's made millions, is famous and can pretty much do and afford whatever he likes.

But in the end how many people can make you laugh and leave a footprint on earth like the way he did. It's a select group.

Robin Williams was so much a part of my childhood- Mork and Mindy was IT when I was a kid. Good Morning Vietnam came out when I was in the Army, the Fisher King came out when I was in college, Good Will Hunting came out when I got my Big Kids job.

I've heard that Robin Williams was his public persona all the time whether privately or publicly. He was always "on."

His work has brought me so much joy and so many laughs and surprised me with his depth and warmed my heart by lending his time, effort, money and his name to all the charity work he's done over the years. He touched and changed a lot of people's lives.

There appears to me to be a fragility often to those who have comedic genius.

What a shame that someone who brought so much to joy to so many people couldn't keep enough for himself. Thank you, Robin Williams. Sorry to see you go.
