Very nice BG. Downtube(s) not quite as funky as @podliaghi Baines but interesting nonetheless.
What is the beverage of choice for the Rigi?

Thanks. Oh at one time I used to like a little moonlight birthday ride with a splash of bourbon in a water bottle but the flask is much nicer piece of kit.

It's a case of a simple solution to one problem taking the form of a complicated solution to a different problem.
Problem 1: bike races were about cyclists, not their cycles. And in photos, all the bikes looked the same. So how could a maker turn news coverage of bike races into free advertisement?
Problem 2: how to make a faster bike?
Solution 2: shorter chain stays!
Solution 1: make the shorter chain stays in such a bizarre way that they'd be visible in tiny rastered newspaper photos!!

Whether either solution works... another question.

That 63 Frejus is the best looking bike I've seen in a long time. The oldest I've had was a 62 Raleigh Gran Sport. Too small so sold it

Current oldest is a 71 Paramount. My favorite bike ever...did 70 miles on it today.

The oldest bike I currently own is my April 1935 Claud Butler Super Velo road frame, built up with a mix of parts from the next four decades!

Next oldest, another Claud Butler - a 1953 Silver Jubilee

Then a 1954 Holdsworth Typhoon

And from 1966, a Claud Butler Olympic Road and a French Camile Dardenne (old photos, both now have period and country correct leather saddles)

My other 23 bikes are newer, from 1970 to 2004.

This 30's Hercules is the oldest in my stable at the moment. Still trying to pin down the actual year. All original except for 28" wheels off of a 66 JC Higgins and a 114 link chain to get this steel beast moving.

Wow, what a gem. That is beautiful and interesting. I would love to find something like that.

1964 Columbia Playboy 88. Twist grip shifted 3 speed hub, chrome motorcycle style triple tree front end, hand brakes, white walls, chrome fenders and metallic gold paint. Saw it at JC Penny and notified my Mom that this could be my one and only Christmas present. She told me that $70 was too much to pay for a bike, just to throw me off. Several guys in the neighborhood had Schwinn Stingrays and I was a happy kid to finally have my own muscle bike.

A fun little project that fell into my lap.

Forum member Sloar did the repaint.

Here is what it looks like now and what it looked like when we started out.

As for the build, I can't decide which direction to go. I do have a very nice Campy Gran Sport groupset sitting on the shelf here along with all the fixins.

Well see what happens this winter.
I think the bottom pic is hot. Please tell me that's the after shot.
