I'm so overdue to get out there, missed his wedding at Surly. When I do, will need to get together for a nice ride.

Sazeracs in the winter, proper daquiris (rum, simple syrup, lime juice, no blender nonsense) in the summer, beer all year.

I've seemed to board the IPA train and forgot to get off of it...
Bale Breaker Brewing's Topcutter IPA is my favorite and I do drink it often. They are out of Yakima, Washington. Closer, in Seattle, there is no shortage of really good ones so I will spare the list.
For those who venture up to or live in Victoria BC (or close), Driftwood Brewing has their Fat Tug IPA and it is incredible.
I do like other beer styles; and I'm not a liquor kind of guy. A good burger and a good beer is pretty much perfection.

Warped Wing in Dayton Ohio
Warped Wing in Dayton Ohio has the best Pilsner I have ever tasted. It is now my current favorite.

A good pilsner is always a nice find. I have found that Base Camp Brewing (Portland, OR) has a Rye Pilsner and it is excellent.
We're at that time where HUB's (Hopworks Urban Brewing, another Portland outfit) Abominable Winter Ale is available. So incredibly good, with hilarious artwork.

I've yet to find an ESB I like more than Fullers.
There are exceptions of course, but the more beers I taste, the more I'm confident in my notion that some things are better off just left alone. Countries that have a particular style associated with them have pretty much nailed it...attempts at 'improvement' are likely just going to mess it up.
England: Bitters
Belgium: Oh so delicious belgian style ales
Germany: Hefeweisen and lagers
Czech republic: Pilsners
The U.S. has cornered the market on over the top hoppy IPA's. These are much better than the English version. With exceptions of course, I feel like most other common styles seen at american breweries are lesser copies of their European counterparts.
With the change in weather, in addition to beer, I'm making my switch from rum to whiskey now!
Enter old fashioneds and Sazeracs. If anyone cares, Sazerac =
Rye whiskey
bitters
simple syrup
rinse of Herbsaint or absinthe
Also...my shameless plug for Rittenhouse Rye. Best rye you can buy for the money. On a super cheap budge, Old Overholt is quite good though. But Rittenhouse, you can spend triple the price and not get something better.

Unfortunately I've developed a taste for craft beer, no thanks to a friend who broke me of my cheap beer habit a year ago. I say unfortunately because those wonderful craft beers and goodies from our local microbreweries are pricey, unless I catch the bar or restaurant on a day with good specials. One of my favorite local beers, a velvety and potent stout, can range from $3 to $10 a draw, depending on the day and time.
A few years ago I'd have said no way would I ever spend $10 on one beer. Then I tried that beer. Spoiled me completely. Now when I drink a Tecate or Dos Equis it tastes like sparkly water.

Lots of nice craft brewers in my area, and my local rides all just seem to go by them...
Grimm Bros., Verboten, and Loveland Ale Works are a few of my favorites. At home though I tend toward cans of Guinness Draught. When not in a beer mood I'll be enjoying a nice bourbon such as Buffalo Trace, or the offerings from Breckenridge Distillery, or our local Dancing Pines.
