Concorde Colombo
 

Hi everyone!

So I've just gotten into the whole vintage bike thing and love it, but I dont really know that much about it yet, so I thought I'd come to you guys and ask for abit of help. Recently I have been looking at alot of bikes and frames on Ebay and I came across this frame called Concorde Colombo.

Still not sure if im gonna buy a whole bike or a frame yet, but I really liked this one because of the chrome on it.

So I was wondering if you guys here could help me out with a few questions I have about it before I start bidding on it:)

Is this frame of any quality? (fork, dropouts, tubing etc)
What year ish is it from? (80s, 90s)
Is it original?

buy it! Funny that this Concorde has Ciocc piercings in the headlugs: the factory wasn't even half trying to disguise the connection! it has no tubing decal. but my guess is with the chrome rear triangle and other details it has to be a least Columbus SL, possibly SLX. It will be a great riding champ (unless there's some hidden damage, but I see none) and probably from late '80s. If it fits, you will not regret it...buy...:thumb:

How much do you think it is worth? at the moment it is only 30£ which is really cheap, but there still is 4+ days left. The waiting time is killing me!

I had a Colombo in PDM team colors, and sold it because it was too small. It had Aelle tubing IIRC.

I've too seen chromed Aelle Concordes.

Certainly a great rider, but you should get confirmation of the tubing type to help you set a price.

Ask the seller if there is rifling in the seat tube and steerer (SLX). The price difference between an Aelle frame and SLX frame should be $150-200.

I didn't know that they "wasted' chrome plating on Aelle frames ;), but I agree that it will ride really well regardless of the tubeset. You can be 90% certain of the tubing by asking for the seatpost size: 27.2 will be SL or (maybe) SLX, 26.8 will be Aelle...if this is late enough to be built from Cromor (I don't think so) I'd have to consult my charts, cause I can't recall what size seat tube was used in that set.

Just found out that the same seller is also selling a Concorde seatpost that was from the same bike with the size 27.2, so I guess it is a SL or SLX. Guess I'd have to get my hands on that aswell.

Probabaly made of the better stuff. Cromor takes a 27.2.

I worked at a shop that sold these back in the late '80s. The Columbo was not the top of the line, and I don't remember it having fully chromed stays like that. Could this one be a repaint? That would explain the lack of a tubing decal. I seem to remember it as having Aelle or Cromor tubing.
Concorde was very big on the internal brake cable routing trend around that time, so this one would be just before all that. Maybe an '87?

I talked to the seller and he told me that the weight of the frame + fork is 2680 grams, so it might be Cromor?
He also told me it is orignal, so it shouldnt be repainted.

you won't be the first person overcome by chrome rear triangle and fork. Euro helps contribute to the illusion and fantasy. build it with a nice wheelset, tubies for best result.

I'd be surprised if it wasn't. This looks far too nice for a Colombo. Aquila or Squadra, more likely. '86-ish.

Whatever it is, it is beautiful.
