Wow! that polished up really really nicely! Beautiful early Alan!:thumb::thumb:
I didn't know that Alan made bikes for other marques even in their earliest days. Do you have any information for us on Ciclo Gamba of Bergamo?

Mister Fernand 09-16-14 02:48 PM

Alan make frames for many manufacturer without signed: Gitane, Guerciotti ...... and also store that sold under their brands.
My bike am part of the bicycles sold by the stores.

Mister Fernand 09-21-14 04:52 AM

So is Modolo the brand? I don't know them at all. One of my recent aquisitions has Modolo Corsa brakes which look similar.

Mister Fernand 09-21-14 10:09 AM

Here, the production of Modolo with models and years of manufacture.

"Corsa’s looking very agricultural compared to the pro models. Rough untreated forged light alloy calipers, no hand polishing here"

Pretty accurate description! Thank you Mr F!

Mister Fernand 09-21-14 11:59 AM

Y a pas de quoi. :)

bikemig 09-21-14 12:20 PM

Modolos were pretty sweet brakes but they tended to have crummy pads; I'd swap the pads out. Really, really pretty brakes though. I have a pair of the brake levers on one of my old racing bikes; you can use the black dia compe hoods if you don't mind that it's not period correct. They work well though. By the way, I have to ask, qui il l'homme de la pampa? On parle francias.

fietsbob 09-21-14 12:22 PM

Good that you shined up the 'lugs' it will make the cracks that happen in them easier to see.

If they haven't cracked yet after all the years of use, I doubt if they will crack on Fernand...

fietsbob 09-22-14 08:23 AM

metal fatigues from use, not storage.

That's going to be a jewel Mr Fernand. I bought Modolo hoods on eb from Boulder bicycle once, maybe they still have them.

Gary Fountain 12-20-14 03:39 PM

Looking lovely. I like your component mix especially the Modolo pro's. I'd be looking for the Modolo gum hoods (if at all possible) to go with the colour scheme.

Danish guy 12-20-14 04:02 PM

Beautiful! And light too :)

Agreed. You can find them on Ebay for reasonable prices - here's a link to a set that's translucent bronze. Might match the ano pretty closely.

What is the datecode on your RD? Looks to be a first-generation Super Record (in post #18 ) vice the later version shown in the first set of photos.

Looking good - I've never seen the lugs shine up so well on one of those Alans!

That has cleaned up lovely, just be careful pressing in the headset cups to the head tube as a lot of these frames have been scrapped due to too much force used when fitting the headset and cracking the alloy

Mister Fernand 12-21-14 05:24 AM

I saw the hoods on eb, I would like the black, but I'm not Bill Gates, I'm not going to put $ 120 in plastic.
Why not translucent.

The Super Record derailleur is 1976 is a first generation.
