What interesting projects have you got lined up over the next few months?

I'm planning on doing something cheap and ugly with this Schwinn Sports Tourer to leave in my office in NYC.

This thing fell into my lap (meaning I bid on it on eBay) for $43 shipped as seen here. Campy drops, new paint, nice bb, superbe mech. It's some type of columbus tubing, apparently. If I could find a chrome fork with a bunch of steerer that'd be nice, though I'm also thinking about a 1" carbon fork from nashbar.. Aside from that I don't know. Maybe I'll just build it and give it to a friend.

Picked up this JT Tour of Britain in California a month ago. I tried to get Bob Freeman at Elliott Bay to paint it but he declined due to time. Now I hear they're closing. So I guess it's going to Bilenky. I'd like the original paint job recreated.

This is a keeper and a frame I'd been looking for in my size for quite some time. I'll build it with most likely with DT shifting and a mix of stuff that will make me want to ride it a lot.

I've also got a Surly Disc Trucker that I may or may not do anything with. However, fender1 if you read this I will come get the wheels some time this year, promise!

Anyhow, what have you guys got going on?

I'm trying to finish up my 1980 Cinelli Super Corsa that's 95% done. Just need some repro hoods and it's set. I may or may not have a older Coppi frame/fork with Falck tubing lined up but even if that comes through it'll be way on the back burner.

No problem, whenever. BTW, I have that set of Sturmey Archer 26" hub-brake wheelset for that Schwinn. You could run 26x2.25 tires for urban assualt.

Love that JT - definitely deserving of a full-resto. Are you going to do a dedicated thread on that one? If so, I'm subscribing.

I'm almost done with my bike projects. Davidson is completely complete and the Somec is coming back tomorrow with an aligned rear end and gets a nice, light, recently-overhauled Zeus alloy freewheel to sweeten that deal.

Does getting rid of stuff over the winter count as a project? If so, that's a big goal for me.

The last project bike is the small Colnago Super intended for my 18 YO niece. I dropped the frame at R&E Cycles yesterday and should have it back in two weeks. Just some basic metalwork. I'll see if sloar may be interested in doing the paint/decals/clear after it's prepped. If not, I may try to paint it myself.

My current "projects" thus far include my first complete full fender install. Bought these:

Amazon.com : SKS P45 Black Chromoplastic Longboard, Bicycle Fenderset (Tires Sized 700 x 28-37) : Bike Fenders : Sports & Outdoors

They're not actually solid black, but more of a smoked transparent(ish) black where you can see the foil type material between the layers. It will go on my all Black Nishiki Riviera Mixte:

I will make my Miyata Mixte a triple once I get the correct length spindle. I bought a new in box Park TS 2.2 Truing stand, a Park dishing tool and a Park tensionometer and I have spoke wrenches. I do not, however, know how to build a wheel and I can very marginally "true" a wheel. I know enough to get myself into trouble and not be able to figure out how to get back to where I started. So I will read a book and use some practice wheels to take apart and reassemble. I used to be afraid of derailleurs, and now I'm afraid of wheels. :roflmao2:

I really want to find a lugged steel mountain bike with a top tube no longer than about 20" to convert into a drop bar setup. I've been looking. Found a pristine lugged Trek 950 for $50 but the top tube was like 22.5" so I passed.

Sure looks like a Super Sport and not a Sports Tourer.

I've been meaning to restore this 1981 Trek 720 for a while. I've recently moved it out of storage and into my workshop which counts as progress I reckon:

Black Merckx Corsa 01 with full DA 7700
Teal Serotta Colorado LT with full DA 7401/2
Yellow, red and white Fuso FRX, this one might get Ultegra 6700 with brifters
Bridgestone RB-1, a yellow '93' with tricolor and STI's
Cincelli Corsa Mens Sana, this will likely get DA 7400 6 speed

Plus a really nice all original Tempo, another Tempo frame that will get PC'd and a new 5800 group, a nice Centurion frame that needs PC and will likely get some sort of later 105 group with DT shifters, and eventually, yes, the Frejus.

I'm really looking forward to winter....

Winter projects..Summer projects...It's always 100 degrees here. So you can call this an early Winter Project.
Mid 80's CIOCC Competion SL, in 60cm. Paint was in really nice shape, I had the fork rechromed, and new decals on fork only.

I have an '84(?) Pro Tour 15 with a bit of frame damage possibly necessitating replacement of a chainstay. It's a stripped frameset atm. I'm hoping to get to that (or find a replacement frame) and build up a nice solid gravel grinder with a mix of old and new road and mtb components. If I go the frame repair route I may have the canti bosses dropped and rear triangle spread for 130mm 700c. Then repaint. May be cost prohibitive. That's the bike that really got me back into riding, so there is some interest to keep it on the road (or off of it) if possible within reason. I'll see if I have any old pics.

BTW, I think I remember seeing a thread here a few months ago where someone was able to use some BMX 'canti adapter' to drop the mounting posts just enough to go from 27" to 700c. I haven't had my coffee yet, apologies for the lackluster explanation. Does anyone remember that thread? Other (graceful) suggestions?

EDIT: Looks like 27" - 700c with canti's isn't as much of a trick as I thought.

Schwinn varsity clean up, the frame and wheels are all polished up already and it's being reassembled.

I just finished this torpedo for a friend. Then next up on the list is an early 80's Merckx Professional. Its in sad shape and need restored. But for some reason I have a soft spot in my heart for bikes that need rescued. Plus he excepted a pretty good offer I made.

I vow to get all the cottered crank mixtes done this winter. No joke, there are over 15 of them.

Looks like some fun projects! My project this winter will be reorganizing the garage. I have 5 bikes, the wife has 2 and she recently told me upon acquisition of my 5th bike that I am not allowed to have anymore. I think if I get them out of the way and get the garage looking good, I can let another bike eventually follow me home. But no way in h3ll will she let me right now

And it isn't a super messy garage, just not smartly utilized space.

Look up Groody Brothers in KC (also look them up on facebook for a bunch more example finish frames). I have had them do several frames, reasonably priced, and they do frame restoration too. Bilenky has actually shipped a couple of frames to them in the past to do too. Just a FYI.

Well, I already mentioned this somewhere else, but...

First, I'm taking this bike...

and stripping all the parts off it, oh, I already did that this weekend, so it looked like this:

and stripping all the paint off it (no worries; it's not original paint), and repainting it. I've actually got the fork in primer already, and the frame stripped down to bare metal, hope to spray some primer on that tonight.
Then I'm going to mix up a new shade of paint for it and start brushing that on in thin coats.
Meanwhile I'm going to overhaul all the parts that can be overhauled, clean all the parts that can be cleaned, and repaint some of them. I might even have the handlebar powdercoated.

For me it's to fix any of the following, but being on the road for work and with two little ones at home, it will be difficult.

Commuter/College bike fixups to sell:
Ladies lugged Schwinn Traveler (half started)
DiamondBack low end hybrid
Schwinn High Sierra lugged mountain to mountain hybrid (small frame, swap to rigid fork)

Nicer Stuff:
Lemond Tourmalet (Frame paint in bad shape, components cleaning up well to sell)
'91 Trek Lugged 750 (convert to drops, wheels completely done)
Maybe a '94 Trek 750 will see tonight

Nicest Stuff:
Bruce Gordon Chinook (frame completely repainted/restored, have to decide to go period Shimano or newish Shimano)

And I want this to be the winter I start to build wheels again but wheel see.

I still need to finish the last of my 2013 winter projects: a '72 PX10.

Right now I am rehabbing an early '70s Schwinn Twinn for a friend. Not classic, but vintage for sure. Gawd that thing is heavy, but in pretty good shape. Some minor rust issues which I am working on. Not sure if I want to try and touch-up the paint or just remove the rust and wax it. Rust is coming off the chrome parts nicely. I may be asking for help with the Bendix coaster hub when I get to that. Never tackled one before. After that one of my clients has a pair of old early '70's Peugeots - a road bike and a mixte. Can't tell much about them from his cell phone pics. No chrome, cottered cranks, Simplex and Mafac. I'm gonna tackle those for him. He's a good guy and I like to wrench on stuff.

Very nice. Always wondered how the Aelle tubing felt? or is it even Aelle? I just love Ciocc. 8-)
