WJ Lindsay
I was talking to a long time friend of mine (since grade school) about the Moto I just bought and fitted. I knew he had a vintage bike in the garage and started talking about cleaning it up. Turns out it's a mid to late 70's WJ Lindsey(has the WJ cut out in the BB), full Campy, Cinelli bars and stems, Phil Hubs, Reynolds frame, even Phil "platform" pedals. It had sew ups on it (Mavic?) but he hates those so it's got clinchers. He did save the original rims.
I've tried to find some history on this bike, but all I get is "Mountain Goat Cycles" which were mountain bikes made in the 80's-90's by Lindsay. Any one got some info on this Chico Ca. builder? |
Lindsey or Lindsay? You seemed to have spelled it both ways.
Anyway, no idea. I've never heard of them. But Chico Ca is some beautiful country. I believe Paul Components are based near there? Anyhow, have you seen this? Or maybe it's you? https://www.flickr.com/photos/jsibil...7627164986346/ |

Info is hard to come by, though a small bio states that he "built bikes as fast as he could". If I ever get down to my friends place, I'll try to get pics. PAUL is down the street from where I work. Not crazy about their components. More of an aesthetics thing. |
Mountain Goat - Road Goat a rare bird for sure.

Great paint colors as well. Where did you ever find this one? :) There must be an interesting story. |

Picked it up across the hall at paceline. I have always wanted a Mtn Goat mtb and never had the opportunity to get a mtb or a Road version for that matter. I plan on getting some nice tan walled tires, the current tires are mismatched 25's, may see if 27's will work. I have a black Brooks saddle and need some nice black leather bar tape. As usual, my attempts to downsize the fleet are failing. :)
Ride them and have some fun. If you can fit the Compass Chinook Pass tires, I would go for it. Compass has a great tire going and they really bring out the performance in a bike. Spendy, but I think it's worth it for a nice bike. Black leather would look nice, but think about this for an alternate: Road Grips I have some on order for my Merckx allroader and I will let you know what I think about it. I have yet to fall in love with leather tape in the wet. Too slippery for my tastes. |
