I pick up and old Bianchi Sport. Very old but I don't know how old. Bronze head badge, old Sturmey Archer hub the hub was first produced in 1936. Anyone have an idea.

My guess is 1950s.

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=408515 there is nothing in the 50's with this head badge.

This is way out of my area of expertise but this is one cool bike. That headbadge is a keeper.
|
I have a 1961 w/ that headbadge, was it not used in the 1950s?
|
Moved to C&V from Appraisals.

There should be a date on the rear hub. A group of two digits (that's the year) and a second group of one or two digits (that's the month). The shifter looks like early 50's but a better photo would help.

Okay the hub has 60 12. So Dec. of 1960? The frame is 2G57242

Too old for me but a great looking old city bike for sure.

I own the '59 version of that bike. I can't find the links from when I researched mine, but definitely 1960s. The Bianchi Sport decal changed in 1960. Fantastic bike for putting around on with the family.

I had a bottom-of-the-line 1962 Bianchi Corsa road bike, and that head badge looks familiar. My serial number, 2F51703, looks pretty close to yours. If my interpretation is correct (last digit of year, followed by letter-coded fortnight), yours would have been made two weeks after mine.

The late 1960 date code on the hub makes sense. This and the headbadge would indicate a 61 or 62 model assembled made in 61. Very nice example of a better quality Italian city bike, this make occasional riders not fast or light but fun and easy smooth riding bikes, for when you just want to relax and have a fun easy ride around town on great looking bike that is likely to turn some heads. I regret selling getting ride of the couple of similar bikes I have owned. Considering the likely market price I would be inclined to keep this one.
