West German Bike? What is this?
Rixie, maybe. Its purple, that would attract me.
I think there was a Jupiter or Jaguar that was made in Germany too. I'd buy it and ride it on Rt. 8. It rides smoothly there. Seriously though, I'd try to get it for $100 or less. Its a basic transportation, errand runner from the looks of it. |
Over the years relatively few German bicycles have made it into the US. We have lots of Austrian bicycles, however, mainly from Steyr-Daimler-Puch, but also from Otto Cap.

Years ago I remember seeing German bikes with the brand "Executive" with a similar foil headbadge and flashy colors. The last one I recall seeing was sold at Kress in the 70's, but my guess was they bought closeouts because they never had the same brand or model twice.
I had a 20" bike as a kid with the Executive brand on it. I've also seen the same brand name on bikes marked made in West Germany, and Made in Poland. Different models, different sources? I suppose that bike in the CL ad could be the same sort of deal? |
