Look Hinault pricing up?
I noticed this Look Hinault 753 after it ended on eb@y. A pretty high price for the condition it was in. The others I have noticed in the past sell for almost nothing,
Great bikes that are starting to gain respect?

I've seen them bring serious money for many, many years. Now $800 is breaking new ground. Ebay is the land of variance. What might sell for $400 one day, may sell for $800 the next. Without multiple sales, its hard to spot any trend.
I agree this one is a mess and the buyer will probably regret the purchase.
Witness the recent discussion on Cannondale Black Lightnings. One seller gets $650, while a half dozen others go for $250.

I think the buyer may be disappointed. I was following the auction. Seller noted the rear triangle is 4cm out of alignment, in addition to some fairly serious paint damage. Not only would this be an expensive and difficult paint job to redo (I was quoted $900-$1000 by Ed Litton to redo mine), but 753 frames do not do well with cold-setting. I wouldn't trust the realignment to anyone but an experienced frame builder, and even then I'm not sure how easy it will be considering the 753r tubing on these frames. There was another early Look 753 frame (with a variant pearl white with red and black triangles) on ebay not long ago with a BIN price of $1200 IIRC. If money wasn't an issue, I'd have bought it to have a backup I love mine so much.

IMHO, prices are not up for commemorative Hinault's. Just last month, I passed on one for $400. A legit, one owner from new bike. It was a rider with gasp... 105 biopace. I felt the buyer was very fair in price including his description but it had two areas of serious corrosion that made me pass. But how I so much wanted that bike! My size.
I'd rather spend double for one without corrosion. Too questionable for me and didn't want the risk of further surprises. This particular one was in a Winter road salt environment, the brake bridge was really deep with rust and an area on the seat tube clamp boss. Plus, some moron at a bike shop added their company (large) sticker over the rare graphics.
